Help Selecting Helicopter Controls

I had ordered the Thrustmaster AVA but desided to return it as it seems forever before they are getting anything clutch-ish done.

I took a big jump to Moza AB9 (should arrive Monday :open_mouth: ) to spoil myself after only having 5 hours of flight in MSFS 2020 (the rest was learning Blender and making helipads lol).

My advice is:
get ā€œsomethingā€ without a ball.
The Thrustmaster (Warthog) is indeed better than any Logitech HOTAS (Rhino X56) Iā€™ve tried , but for helicoptersā€¦ meeh.
I did the ā€œsand the ballā€ and used the Nyogel 767a lube.
You will (probably) sooner or later miss that exact center control if youā€™re not a pro (I am certainly not).

I think The AVA is a good bet, or Virpil or VKB as none of these have the ā€œballā€ solution.
Moza AB9 is probably ā€œoverkillā€ in a way but Iā€™m looking forward to try out the FFB

P.S. Anywhere to find good AB9 setups for msfs?

I bought a SimFab mount - indestructible American steel with great add-ons for everything - including the Virpil collective I just bought.

SimFab has a separate three piece collective mount setup that allows you to position the collective arm center point up/down, back/forward and angle to position perfectly. My STECS is positioned off to the side and up and my Moza AB9 in the middle with SimFabā€™s low mount plate adapter. Never ever thought Iā€™d have a cockpit like this.

For Moza base owners: can it be placed on the floor? If so, is there an extension available? I couldnā€™t find any information on that. Iā€™d manly use it on helos and cubs in FS.

You could place it on the floor with a 200mm extension (bought from grip manufacturer) and it should work on a cockpit type seat. Would need to anchor it well for the movement it will get.

Hello, do you also have the SimFab chair?
I have been researching chairs like SimFab, Next Level Racing, Monster Tech, etc.
SimFab seems to be the better choice, especially for comfort.
Any thoughts are appreciated!

Hi - I also have the seat - IMHO more comfortable than the NextLevel - I sat in both at Flight Expo in Houston and picked the SimFab as my choice. Chair is comfortable for long flights, reclines and moves forward/backward. The frame is solid American heavy gauge steel, a rock solid, simple but very flexible design.

For the price the best value out there for me. - I was surprised by the great quality. Their customer service is direct, fast and very helpful. They will help guide you on best setup for what you want to spend.

Thank you so much, very appreciated!
