The Captain is right. I just did some study of stutter at SFO with the beautiful FlightBeam rendition removed at four different TLODS: 50, 100, 150 and then 200… OLOD is 50.
These are all the last 3000’ of an autopilot coupled approach in a 787… flare to touchdown on the right with the stutter at TLOD 200.
In summary, if you go up to 200 you get stutter even in a bare-bones rendition of SFO… and a very expensive 5080…
I did one more test after replicating these findings and this time I added the FlighBeam custom airport to SFO and ran the ILS at 150 TLOS:
