One thing Asobo might be considered misfortunate is that they have to work based on Bing Maps, which lags behind the main rival Google Maps in many ways, eg imagery quality, world coverage, and way too fewer number of photogrammetry cities.

With additional usages for Bing data, there’s a financial incentive to improve that data.
So it is an interaction which might bring up Bing to a better level and competition is always a good thing.

What do you mean „they could have“? They do use data from Open Street Map. Did you miss the story of the Citadel in Melbourne and the student who - during a summer assignment - mistyped 212 stories instead of 2?
I tried editing some building height data in OSM hoping it would reflect in the game, but a few months has passed and there is no changes.
It’s because Bing/MSFS does not constantly pull data from OSM.
Would be great to know if and how often they do that…
