Bruce Artwick for me 84-85. FS has come a long way in some respects.
since’s 1997 with FS5.1.
I believe that in this more than 25 years of simulation if I were to take into account what I spent on PC parts between new machines and upgrades I could have bought a house maybe…lol. That’s why I was remembering… just me GPU’s I used more than 20 types…expensive hobby isn’t this one? But I love it!
I remember getting a flight stick and FS95 when I was 9 for my birthday. I got FS98, took a break til FS2004. I really got into it with FSX. Now here I am in MSFS
My first was FS95, and every single one since
I’ll put it this way. My 1st Falcon sim had to be installed by 5.25" floppy disks.
My first sims were Sublogic ATP and FS4 (literally bought them on the same day) somewhere in 1993 for my IBM PS1. From that date I have been simming on every version of FS, some combat sims, P3D and now MSFS.
Got my real-life PPL(A) license in 2000 and got instrument rated several years later (unfortunately not current anymore due to the covid lockdowns).
1985 - pcjr.
I’m with you. My first Flightsim was on the Commodore 64 and I’ve used every MS Flightsim since it’s evolution. What a fabulous and educational hobby and exciting too. As a bi product of flightsimming I’ve also found that I’ve learnt so much about the inner workings of computers and their operating systems too. I can still remember those days where it took about 20 minutes to download a 1mb file from Flightsim.com over a modem, so in my view what has evolved in the Flightsim world now is as close to real magic as you can get. A truly wonderful hobby.
1983 on a Tandy Color Computer 2. Only 4 colors on a 13" tv.
Sorry, only 39 years then. And it was called Flight Simulation not Simulator.

Heya FS Veterans!
I am an italian virtual pilot since SubLogic Flight Simulator II on my teenages Commodore 64 (that I still have btw).
I remember the late nights spent looking at the Piper Archer II cockpit and wireframe scenery on a small black & white TV (could not afford a colour one at that time), piloting at maybe 2-3 frames per second.
My young teen imagination did the rest, I was fascinated by these flights and still rember them with warm and light heart.
Indeed I had grew up through all the FS installations, until this very latest that, for me, is no less than a teenager’s dream come true.
Happy flights (and memories) at everyone!
Ms-Dos in 1989 at my neighbors house.
Since 1994, I think with FS4 version
Since 1984 with FS3. Bless Bruce Artwick.
My first sim was in 1980, sublogic’s for my TRS-80 model 1. You flew in a 6x6 grid with 2d mountains on one side of the grid and a single ‘airport’ with one runway. Other planes were dots. Loved it!!
1983 Psion Flight Simulator for the ZX Spectrum (and Fighter Pilot from Digital Integration from 1984 I think).
My most “intense” flight simulator interest was in the MS Flightsim 95 era (as real as it’s gets) through various version up to 2004.
But the 2020 version with VR has brought me back to this game, even though I only have a couple of hours to spend each week. Still using my 20 year old MS sidewinder force feedback
FS 2 on Atari ST - as soon as it was released in 85 or 86
I Started with Microsoft flight simulator 2004 A Century of flight and Microsoft Train Simulator
I started with FS95, 98, 2004 and now here with 2020. What times. We built EDAX in 2004 with my father, who is now 81 years old.
