I have a question ,what is AOA?

Equal Transit Theory and what I posted are two different things. Here is what is in the link I posted:
source: NASA

Wow, I debunk a few people and they complain to hide my post? What a crazy forum.

I actually am enjoying reading all the different theories haha

No, actually you didnā€™t debunk everyone, and this is the reason.

It is not the distance that the air travels that causes the low pressure, or ā€œvacuumā€

Due to the shape of the wing, its angle of attack, and its speed through the air, air molecules are ā€œpushed asideā€ as the wing passes through the air, and this creates a vacuum pocket slightly behind and above the wing, which helps lift the wing into that vacuum, helping with lift.
Mr Newton does the rest.
As the wing passes, the air that was around it fills the spot in.
That vacuum collapses from above and all around it, as any vacuum would.

It isnā€™t like a zipper, where each cog in the zipper has to fit back into itā€™s particular place.
Atoms of air donā€™t rejoin the particles they were joined to before, after the wing passes through.
Thatā€™s not to say that there isnā€™t a flow of air over the wing.
Just pause for thoughtā€¦

Another one. Here it is from NASA again. Read what I wrote, not what the others claim Iā€™ve written:

What I debunked is the fact that some are saying I am wrong in saying lift is caused by the difference in air pressure on top and bottom of the wing caused by the airfoil. Itā€™s quite clear in this NASA explaination. This is classical physics and the laws of physics donā€™t change because some think otherwise.

You may want to check the date on that document, sounds like it is out of date to me.

That air travel bit was been proven false in the last while, as you can see, it is marked 'Incorrect Theory"
Yes the wing creates a vacuum, no that vacuum isnā€™t due to the speed of the air travelling over the wing.

Hello friends,
Please, stop this discussion. It was at first a easy question, and somebody laughed about. But now it seems a world problem, which theories are the best, or the right. Fact is, the airplane flies!!! I also was not sure, what AOA means. But now I know, and no more was wanted. Probably everybody is a little bit right.
There are more other problems. Greets from Miwi97

I donā€™t kno why people keep bringing up the equal transit theory which is NOT what I said. The links and examples I provided should be enough. You donā€™t have to believe it but as an engineer who studied classical physics including Statics and Dynamics and the fact that Iā€™ve been building airfoils for 20 years, I agree with the NASA link I provided. The fact that the air on top of the wing has to travel a greater distance, it causes the air molecules to spread out causing a decrease in pressure above the wing. Again, you can take it or leave it but Iā€™m comfortable with NASAā€™s explaination.

All of us pilots know what REALLY keeps airplanes in the airā€¦and that is $$

I didnā€™t know that this topic would go the distanceā€¦

I think it did because there seems to be a lot of misinformation in these forums by alleged ā€œexpertsā€.

Maybe my original comment which said to try Google wasnā€™t such a bad thing to say? Look at how this thread has devolved.

It certainly has opened up a lot of interest here.
Itā€™s great to see everyone chipping in.
Thatā€™s a really good thing!!!

I never meant for there to be arguments about the AOA.

Discussion, Peter, discussion.
Not argument, all is good!
Everyone is just pointing out their thoughts and ideas.
In reality, we as race of people, are still learning and fine tuning lots of info about the principles of flight, on a regular basis.
Therefore, nobody as yet knows everything about it.
The extent and quality of info in this forum here is amazing.
No these arenā€™t arguments, everyone is entitled to his own ideas.
Discussion, just discussion.
Your question did prove to be a good topic for people to reply to though, LOVE IT!

Thank you very muchā€¦

There are very well explained videos by alleged ā€œprofessorsā€ on the Tube that totally believably and logically explain why chemtrails are realā€¦ to everyone who doesnā€™t know much about meteorology and physics. Iā€™ve fought hours with my co-worker about that topic. The problem is that these videos are made deliberately and with real effort. Not much to put against them except education.

The Newton theory is certainly true too, in situations and very depending on the build of the airfoil. Different wings function differently and when you hold a book out of the car window and flip its front up it will move upwards. But the main principle how a wing is built is Bernoulli with all kind of flaps, slats and other lift assistants.

Agree 100%. A lot of people neglect the fact that there are different wings and airfoil designs. Symmetric, asymmetric, cambered, dihedral etc. But yeah, the basic principles of physics does not change just because some no-name Harvard professor puts out a half baked video confusing people.

This reminds me of a video I shot in 2011 and I posted it on YouTube. It was 27 seconds long with 1.4M views and it sparked a debate across the world. The title was ā€œWhat happens when you mix diesel with gas?ā€. Long story short, it was meant to provide entertainment. If you want to watch it, here is the link.

DISCLAIMER: This is not a promotion for a channel that I havenā€™t posted on in about 9 years; this is to let @PeterE1959 know that there is nothing wrong with asking a question like that; just be prepared for a possible debate which may cause you to feel like you caused it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with seeking knowledge so donā€™t be afraid to ask. The only wrong question is the one that isnā€™t asked.
