Intel ARC - A Series & B Series Graphics Card (GPU) Discussion Thread

Running DLSS on the 3060TI?
The ARC GPU does not have XeSS in FS2020 yet.

I use DLSS on “Quality” setting, but with this setting there is not much performance gain.
Other settings that gave more performance (fps) are to blurry for me.

Thanks for posting the video. I was looking at buying a pair of 770s, the video convinced me it’s more than good enough.

I don’t think even Intel knows how well it does in FS2020.

Went to my usual supplier this morning, the 770 is on sale, so I ordered one. Some time next week we’ll see how well it works. If it’s really good, I’ll get a second one.

Why a Intel ARC A770?
There are Nvidia and AMD cards almost in the same price range that are 2 times faster.

In the Netherlands the prices are,
Intel ARC A770 - € 385,-
Nvidia RTX 3060ti - € 429,-
AMD 6700XT - € 439,-

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but in the several on-line comparisons I’ve seen, the A770 and 3060Ti are almost identical, with the A770 very slightly ahead in actuality.

Where can I find this 2X faster data? Is this DLSS nVidia marketing material?

No, its my opinion when i read and see the performance of the A770 on this forum.
My RTX3060ti perfomance is much better and i can run a triple monitor configuration with much higher fps then the ARC A770 does.

Meaby the A770 and the RTX3060 are almost equal but the RTX3060ti is much faster on DX11 and with higher resolutions.

Intel has openly stated that the performance of DX11 and DX9 is not what they desire. But DX12 is its strength.

The A770 LE is PCIe 4.0 & 16 GB VRAM.
My A770 on a Z390 MB has PCIe 3.0 capability only, not 4.0.
My A770 does not have XeSS on FS2020 yet (similar to Nvidia DLSS).

I don’t compare prices or performance.

Flight with my A770 is smooth and the graphics are great.

The 3060 Ti costs a fair amount more than the Arc 770 Limited Edition, has half the ram (8 gb instead of 16), and a slower clock. I looked at them, compared the specs, and went “Nope!” to NVidia. MSFS needs as much ram as possible. I have 128 gb of system ram (DDR4@3600 stock, not overclocked). Might as well feed the beast with 32 gb of dedicated video ram on 2 cards running 8192x2160 stretched across 2 screens, same as my low-end (bought during the height of the chip shortage) cards do.

NVidia is playing us for suckers. The crypto craze is over, they need to return to normal pricing.

Thanks for the report. I am tempted to try A770 to maximize DX12 performance.
What kind of FPS are you getting on the tarmac at a crowded airport, such as JFK, Heathrow, etc…
Is it fluid in this most demanding use case?

See my Reply, number 7, above in this Topic.

Very fluid at KJFK and New York. See the video.

Thank you, the performance is indeed impressive for a card at this price point, you made a great choice!
Thanks again for sharing.

The 3060ti is good but not great for higher resolutions paired with addons that require additional VRAM. I had one and it performed well on vanilla high settings 3440x1440 until I started using addons.
DX11 is old tech and the game runs much better on DX12 ATM. Of course the 3060ti can’t keep up in DX12, again it lacks vram.
I am now using an AMD RX6800 and siginficantly better performance with payware airports.
Imo 16gb VRAM is the sweetspot for this game. Even 12gb isn’t enough espeically @4K and VR.
Once DX12 becomes more ironed out the A770 will certainly fair better unless Asobo implements RT that will probably require a 4080 to run smoothly!

I have all mods active and several 3d party airports.
The sim runs with 40/50 fps on ground, 55/65 fps in air with PMDG 737 on 3d party London City Airport and in the air above London city. With live weather and real time.
I run MSFS on a Nvidia 3060ti + AMD 5800X3D and triple monitor 3x 1920x1080.

On DirectX 12 the A770 performance is equal to the RTX 3060 ti.
But on DirectX 11 the RTX 3060 ti performs much better then the A770.
On almost all videocards the performance on DirectX 12 is less the on DirectX 11.

DirectX 11 (Passmark)
Intel ARC A770 197 FPS
Nvidia 3060 ti 385 FPS
Nvidia 4070 ti 657 FPS

DirectX 12 (Passmark)
Intel ARC A770 79 FPS
Nvidia 3060 ti 79 FPS
Nvidia 4070 ti 106 FPS

Hi Ron (assuming that’s your name),

I want to thank you for your shared details about the ARC A770 used for FS in 4K! Your info was the trigger for me to buy this graphics card (just 2 weeks ago). After problems in the first week (CTD with info that the graphic card driver may be faulty or the card itself), I deleted the Scenery Cache file. Since then everything is fine.

I run the FS in 4K with FSR in highest quality mode. Most FS settings are on high, some on Ultra, LOD is ~130 (in-game slider). VSYNC on, set to 50 fps, no tearing. I’m able to get these 50 fps most of the time. Just like San Francisco Downtown between the high buildings, the rate drops to 35 fps.
Very pleased with this card.
My CPU is a Ryzen 5600G, Resisble-BAR enabled, CPU is not the limit in the game.
I set the A770 performance settings to 210 W max., GPU clock is around 2560 MHz. GPU Temp 75°C. Will install more case fans soon. My current room temp is around 18°C, but the next summer will come with 10° more

If anybody is considering buying the A770 and has questions about my experience, just let me know.
Best regards, Michael

Got my A770 LE earlier this week, and it’s great. Buying a second one next month. Running dual 50" screens at a combined 8192 x 2160 stretched across both screens as a single window. VERY happy. The second card will allow me to run all 4 50" screens in a video wall (2 across x 2 down 100" TV, anyone?) at 8192 x 4320. Gotta finish building the screen racking first.

WOW.

Although Intel spec’d the A770 LE as being capable of 8K, I was suspicious as to if it would actually handle 8k in real life.

You have shown it to be very capable.
And, dual A770 GPUs even.
What a system you must have. 4 50inch 4k monitors.

I’m awaiting the second A770 LE, because I’m very happy with it with one window stretched across 2 50" screens. I was originally thinking about using the side screens as secondary windows for front-left and front-right windows, but the field of view is so wide that when you look to the left or right, you see a LOT MORE than normal. So while I’m building the video rack to hold all 4 screens this weekend, I will be stuck running instrument popouts on them until I get the second card. Then it’s buying 3 flight radios and the switches panel, and at tax refund time two more 50" displays to replace the ones I’ve “cannibalized” for my video wall. One thing’s for sure - a few people already want flying time/practice, even without the second set of screens on top - it’s a great excuse for them to come visit. After all, it’s not like you can legally fly deep down in the grand canyon or through the lower arch of the Eiffel Tower in real life.
