Hi Dave, I’ve tried unlimiting in-sim FPS and locking it in NVCP, previously it was the other way around. Haven’t tried setting limits on both but that’s worth a shot. Solid 60 at most demanding will be a bit of a challenge since I’m at 1440p vs your 1080p, but solid 25/30fps is no issue.
About long flights; the funny thing is MSFS has demonstrated no stability issues whatsoever (bugs notwithstanding). I’ve been doing progressively longer hauls up to 13H so far and other than the stutters on approach/dep, it’s not had a single freeze or CTD.

The in-sim Vsync is rather trashy, I have never used it. Good move.
So if 30 FPS is your preferred target, you can limit FPS to 30 in NVCP and then set V-Sync to Fast, and confirm the monitor’s refresh rate is set to 60, and then let me know what happens.
Playing on PC is not plug-and-play, it’s quite an endless circle of chasing those elusive frames.
He got it right:
I get good results with the in sim vsync and 50% refreshrate. I’m trying to keep things simple these days.
Stutter free performance. It’s all about Inter Frame Consistency, not FPS - User Support Hub / Install, Performance & Graphics - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
I think we’re all on the same wavelength, just by slightly different approaches to the same goal.

Posting back for posterity. The usual disclaimer that this just happens to work for me in this specific config and set of myriad variables and all.
The fix that did it is NVIDIA 551.52
(from https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/8ylsRJpV4dM
((idk about other versions but since this one works I’m sticking with it))
Even though they’re saying its not necessary, I did the whole nine yards anyway. Restart, safe mode, DDU. Restart, safe mode, new install drivers. Restart, normal.
Double checked to see if my underclock settings were forgotten; they were. Reran Afterburner and reapplied preset, so now its an apples to apples before-and-after. Same GPU load and power consumption, same settings, same everything, but solid 30fps and no stutters at native, plain Jane 1440p. None of that DLSS/FSR/MFG monkey business. Just finished a 15H flight from WSSS-KSFO, FSLTL and all, as far as performance goes, this is prob as smooth as it gets.
Tomorrow I’ll swap out the PSU from a 9yo Seasonic S12 II SS-520GB to a brand new Core GX-650. A friend popped by recently and pointed out that having my second 8-pin PCIe running off a 2x molex pigtail isn’t ideal, even if the unit still “works fine” - fair enough. And seeing that I can now confidently start pushing graphics settings again (without the underclock or even a slight overclock), giving it plenty and proper power wouldn’t hurt.
Alternatively I could just continue running as-is with the GPU pulling as little as 60W during cruise and generating barely any heat with the tower in a corner under the desk.
I’m experiencing, for the first time in MSFS 2024, SU2beta, intermittent stutters on my long haul flight. Flying Inibuilds A350, currently over Saudi Arabia and the streaming is stuttering every 7-9 seconds.
My 4090/i9-13900k/64gb DDR5 RAM is not stressed at all. Clearly something happening on the server/sim side.
