You have 3-4 users all agreeing, just presenting slightly different versions and 1 user that simply wants to start a fight and no-one wants to take the bait.
I tried to go back and fly my PMDG 737 NG around Xmas time, just because I missed the complexity. As long as I stayed immersed in the cockpit and did systems management it was fine but, just don’t look out the window.
I have racked up way too many hours on MSFS. To say it has not held my attention and interest since August would be a lie. It has treated me well and met most of my expectations so far.
I see your point however this is 2021 not 1999 and we have come a long way and it simply is not a strong argument to say MSFS is better if it achieves the same as 1999. Sorry I just can’t understand your logic.
Then you didn’t read the relevant posts. I did NOT say MSFS is better because it is the same. I said it is better because it is far superior to where we started before.
Except when you tell people you are a flight simmer … 99% don’t care or think less of you unless they are into flight simming too, we come here to find friends
Oh, no. I remember how super-ugly (graphics again) it was. Though it did mostly seem to work, even on stock FSX. I presumed P3D5.1 didn’t have SIDs and STARs in the flight planner, as FSX does not.
You really had to spend $1500 on aircraft to do anything enjoyable ? Looking at the Aerosoft page, the most expensive is the PMDG 747 which is a little more than $100, and virtually everything else is less, so you must’ve bought about 20-25 planes.
Presumably most of them were small props as once you get above a certain height the fabulous graphics of MSFS become somewhat moot.
Reminds me of another plugger who complained he’d bought a string of OrbX products but couldn’t “see his house”. Remarkably poor purchasing skills, as most of the products he’d purchased made it very clear that they wouldn’t do that. Rather like buying a Tiger Moth and complaining it won’t do ILS.
Bought all of PMDG and expansions for 737 and 747, FSLabs 319/320/321, Aerosoft 330 and CRJ, Majestic Dash 8, QW 787, MilViz KingAir 350i, Pilot’s Boeing Clipper, and a full library of A2A aircraft. So, MOSTLY airliners, which is what I usually fly in P3D.
Welcome to P3D world. You spend money even for a light enhancements plugin. Even if you want to feel some turbulence (P3D really feels on rails , even on PMDG, FSL … etc comparing to MSFS and XP), you need to pay for it, crazy. Last time I calculated, I spent close to 1500-2000$, with all these plugins installed, I was frustrated by the maintenance needed. When I switched to XP, really it was for me way ahead than P3D , and even cheaper, you got tons of freeware and I wondered, why we don’t see PMDG there and then I realized, well historical thing, they had their add-ones developed for FSX and P3D has the same Simconnect API and hence less time invested.
Yeah indeed, even the default airports for God sake, both XP and MSFS their default airports are acceptable and even if, good chance you will find a freeware for it on both platforms, I only buy when I am frequently flying in this airport or this airport has some unique features makes it appealing. In P3D, no way, you have to buy, like really, the default looks like big dumpster that hurts and freeware in P3D is close to non-existing since it is being dominated by third party developers (well they are the elite in P3D world, get access to inside info, get access to betas , etc) ← another reason why I ditched P3D for XP last year.
Realizing I’m late to the party, my take on what he said was that he’s reconsidering his position on Asobo creating a “study level” aircraft. Perhaps he’s realizing how big the market is and how many planes there are to choose from, that he wouldn’t be hurting anyone’s business, and they do need some cred. And with that cred of creating an airplane that actually works, would attract even more developers.
To me, his whole discussion made me realize, yeah, it’s all about the Marketplace. Which, as a side note, why would they design such an ugly one that’s so hard to use and see product? Maybe it works really well in VR?
Can I say I hate the aircraft interface as well? Super hard to use, at least on 4K. That teeny little drag bar is hard to grab, and rolling the mouse wheel it moves too slowly; you can’t see much of the planes… Why would I want a vertical slit? I suppose it does allow to see the performance figures of aircraft.
P3D is a product for government / corporate customers spending millions of dollars. Entertainment use is an afterthought; they could care less about individual customers pretty much. As per the license…
I believe it is a program to improve the airports in the sim, probably similar to Airport Design Editor, by the sound of it, but capable of much more.
ADE manipulates the bgl that is the actual airport, so things like taxiways, parking spots, and just about anything to do with an individual airport can be altered.
Idea borrowed from X-Plane. Enthusiasts make airport scenery, which Asobo check for quality. Seems to produce decent airports, without hitting the payware airport market too much.
