Is 4k monitor noticeably better than 2k?

You obviously upgraded your optical processors with that new GDDR12, 64GHz bioRAM then. :stuck_out_tongue:

But yeah, I’m in agreement here. You can see over 30 fps. Easily. Those who can’t need their eyes checked.

Really interesting to see how many simmers use 4k TVs. I thought about going with a 4k TV so many times, but I was worried I’d miss my 34" 3440x1440 VA 144Hz 1ms curved monitor.

I love the widescreen view, but 4k does tempt me often!

Has anyone made the switch along the lines of the OP post but from a widescreen?

One other reason 4k tempted me is because I have a 3090, 64GB RAM and an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X.

Not sure how my rig would fare though.

I also love my 34" UW. And I would never replace that as my main screen for my computer.

However, having a 50" TV as my main sim display is a thing of beauty. One of the best things about it IMHO is the fact that with 50-55", the scale of things is true to real life.

I’m still on my 1440P/165hz Asus PG278QR from back in the 3D Vision days.
It WAS a 3D Vision monitor that was made for Nvidia’s 3D Glasses, but after Nvidia killed off 3D Vision all of us old users are stuck with these very expensive monitors.
Good thing is they are heavily specced with GSync and all the other goodies for 2D.
I’ve been VR since 3D Vision was removed so no biggie…still a nice monitor for browsing and 1440p videos.

True, but its psychology … “phycology” is the study of algae …

They arrived at 24fps based on film cost per foot because profit is always #1

That depends on the size of the display and how far you sit from it. I have a 28" gaming monitor running 1440p (2k) that I sit about 3 feet from, and a 60" 4K TV that I sit about 12 feet from, and to my eyes, they both have the same level of visual fidelity with games. I would never spend money on a 4K gaming monitor that is under 34" in size.

So what are the best make / models for a 4k TV for MSFS, in peoples experience that have upgraded? Hopefully it’s ok to ask that in this thread, rather than create a new one thats virtually the same question.

Why do you sit so far away from your 60" TV?

I sit ~24" from my 55" TV, (It’s sitting on my desk) like, it’s as if it’s my instrument panel… (I fly GA)

I’m perfectly happy with my 2 year old LG 55UN7300 I bought at Costco for $375. It’s the only 4K TV I’ve ever owned, so I can’t say I have any comparison experience.
