I haven’t had live traffic since initially installing the sim when it was released. Have re-installed multiple times for various reasons and still get the error. Hoping to find someone who may have figured a way to resolve this.
Only Asobo can. The problem is at their end and they are “investigating”

You have activated air/airport traffic in graphics settings?
The setting for online traffic alone is not enough,
the setting in graphics disables all online and multiplayer traffic regardless the online setting.
One of these (red mark), have not tested which affects which part:
The low bandwith for live traffic can be avoided when you switch to AI traffic until they fixed the bandwith problem. Maybe switching for longer flights after start and before landing to avoid it during cruise.

But, if you switch to AI Traffic, won’t that turn off Live Ship Traffic?
About 2 hours ago I got a green message pop up. I don’t remember the exact wording but it was basically saying the Live Traffic Issue Had Been Resolved.
Since that message I haven’t had the error message on three separate sessions.
Live traffic has been working for me for the last couple of days although I’ve still had the error message during that time.
The a/c models seem to be appearing a bit earlier now and are well defined models instead of the pointed nose 2020 ones that had been spawning in initially before morphing into the better defined ones. I’ve also seen PC-6 and Dash 8s that I hadn’t noticed before. No improvement on the liveries though. Very few real world ones, mainly manufacturers liveries. Worse though is the occasional 2020 awful AI liveries that I hoped we’d seen the end of.
A step in the right direction but still far short of what we were promised.
Always since the last update and nobody cares.

I have had this notification appear twice in quick succession every 2-3 minutes every single time I’ve ever played this game with live traffic enabled.

pops in and out multiple times a session - and has for weeks.
I’m still getting the error message today, but for the first time in over a week I did actually see some live traffic.
I see this every time I fly, multiple times. I really wish I knew how to remedy it. I’ve never seen live traffic other than on the world map. It’s such a persistent error, too. I see it every few minute or so for the duration of every flight.
There are a couple of threads on this topic. I posted this on one of the others. I’ve had success stopping the error message by doing this:

I’m on the S-E-Asia server and it frequently pops up with a sound effect “bumb”
I also got a notification about issues with live traffic data because I forgot to disable live traffic 
I turned it off and the problem was solved 
I’m wondering how long we’ll have to wait for fixes from Asobo…

Ok so, I set my tick boxes to display players close by etc basically turned on all online content then set my region to automatic and now the error message has gone away on every flight since.

I fly mostly helicopters and I like flying with other people who also fly helicopters. My empty sky problem started in late October 2023 while still flying in msfs 2020. I thought msfs 2024, loaded into a new pc would solve the problem, it didn’t. I still can’t see live traffic and my friends can’t see me.
I contacted support and after 4 days they couldn’t solve it either and gave up. So I closed the ticket and as of today after getting numerous ‘error accessing live traffic’ screens have stopped flying in both 2020 and 2024 editions.
I don’t see the point of going back to pre-2020 days when there were no live traffic/friends to fly with, it’s an option that I paid for and what I wanted and didn’t get.
For FS2020, you can use FlyByWire FSLTL traffic injector, it’s free, and for sure, on busy airports, it will be hard to reach the ATC, when there are so much aircraft trying to talk ti the ATC.
