They behave as though it were a matter of national security.
I think the larger issue is that besides the acknowledgement of the launch CDN issues, and the list of bugs, neither Jorg nor Seb have acknowledged or spoken to the community about how MSFS 2024 itself was in more of a âbetaâ or even âalphaâ state, with even the SDK not finished, etc, etc, etc.
I for one sold my Xbox because it seemed like MSFS 2024 was at least a year away from being enjoyable on that platform (and MSFS was my only reason for owning it). I am about to try XPlane on a new Mac arriving shortly. I hope to post a sober comparison of the UI here once Iâve got my head around it. So if Microsoft wants those like me to return - those who have stepped back and stopped flying and engaging - they really need to speak up. Their level of acknowledgement will be a large part of me deciding whether itâs worth building an expensive PC to enjoy flight simulation going forward. It has been quite a let down for me so far.
I too have considered X-Plane 12. The visuals are just so far behind even FS20, and I donât think an entirely new sim along with payware mods are worth the investment considering FS20 is right there on my PC.
As someone with experience in dealing with not being able to tell customers - rightly annoyed - some details, I fully empathize with the vanguard and can only imagine the frustration about not being able to say something.
As someone who (thinks he can) look at the bigger picture, I can guess why some questions are just being unanswered - and that itâs not always as malicious as it may seem.
As someone who was considering spending 879 PLN on AE - a 7th most expensive local price on Steam btw - boy am I glad I did not, imagine advertising a special edition with content thatâs actually not in the game, and any query as to when it can be expected is answered with " "
The more I dwell on this the madder I am getting.
So, the individual(s) in charge at Microsoftâs dev team/administration does not think it is pertinent to tell us when we will have access to the updated versions of our Marketplace purchases? They feel itâs better to have left us here in the dark for 2+ months while we see these updates propagate in other vendorâs stores? Do you want us using 2024 or do you not? Iâm confused. Youâd prefer we launch 2020, so we can gain access to our updated content there? Do you want us to remain Marketplace customers in the future, given we are treated to this total lack of information about our purchases from you? Thatâs the line the âpeople upstairsâ are taking? Because that is precisely what youâre communicating by not communicating, at all.
Again, the individual(s) in charge at Microsoftâs dev team/administration does not think it is pertinent tell us when the LL/FF aircraft they sold us, in the most expensive digital edition of the simulator, will be compatible with said simulator? They feel it is better to have left us here in the dark for 2+ months about this?
I donât want to start hurling negative comments about the organization you work for, but this is a seriously messed up approach to treating people who have spent good money with you.
They sit there with a straight face and tell you to remain mum on this?
I really do not understand how this approach is thought to be the correct one.
Most of my flight are in VR. Almost every day. I do miss the toolbar. But wow is VR beautiful in 2024, compared to 2020. Especially with the brand new Nvidia display drivers.
Itâs more important than that. Itâs PR, and public perception.
Well, the public perception from this vantage point is that it is wretched.
I canât really see how they could do much worse than the massive middle finger they are giving me.
Making us wait 2+ months for some Dev Live Stream that may or may not address an issue that should have been addressed many weeks ago is terrible PR.
Looking at the dev update, there are a lot of items that will go a long way to improve the sim. And your are right about the state of things. I think itâs knocked them sideways, and I suspect has them in a bit of a panic.
I think there was some embarrassment over how the sim was performing on console, and 2024 was supposed to address that. In some ways it has, but in many others for every step they took forward they did a massive somersault backwards, bringing us to a worse position than we were. So much so that many people have gone back to 2020 in disgust, and many have made very public via YouTube, Twitch, Discord etc. how disappointing things are.
Iâm lucky I guess in that I donât suffer unduly slow loads, crashes, streaming issues, that others have hadâŠ.other than the abysmal launch week. So I wonât be going back any time soon. But I am looking forward to more 2024 native planes, as the defaults, even these top end ones, arenât really doing it for me. And I hope to see many more fixes for those listed on future dev. updates.
Maybe the reason they donât want to communicate with us, is because weâd find out what a house of cards they have constructed.
This is the fallout of no communication â we get to speculate stupidly.
Well I donât know about the rest of you, but Iâm excited to see beta testing for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2025 finally starting and am looking forward to a release-quality candidate later this year, maybe even this summer. <3
Seriously though â I really hope that communication becomes more open about whatâs in progress, whatâs being worked on, whatâs being fixed and how. Timelines and target dates are much less important than knowing that work is happening and seeing progress.
I think itâs important that Asobo take serious stock of how theyâre operating this property and how their secrecy and lack of responsiveness to major problems during the development and release of MSFS2024 has negatively impacted public perception of their product, which is how they make money.
What seems like an easy fix is not always as easy as you might think.
They already have invulnerability in the game, itâs just disabled for career.
Crashing & Error codes for career mode should be top priority. Very disappointed. Hope to see improvements soon.
If you scan through the installed sim and look at the files, you will see a lot of assets are installed on disk. That includes planes and airports (but not all).
Those files are created/updated when the next sim versions are installed. As for silently updated files (streamed) you may never know when the change occurs.
For example, any latest nav data is downloaded when the sim is restarted.
So we cannot rush to conclusions about what is or is not installed or fixed.
Asap I will uninstall FS 2024âŠthere is not clear situation of developers âŠI dont like when someone is not to clear in answer⊠after a question.
Regarding me I want to say that so many beautiful LL and FF are bugged in FS 2024..lm a vintage airliner lover , for example i cant have anymore the beautiful mod of Nixon itself for Boeing 307( A very masterpiece who changed well one of the worst aircraft in FS)..denarq mod or the masterpiece Boeing 247âŠthe aircraft that I loved to fly are dead in FS 2024âŠit isnât as they said âŠsimply put aircraft in community folderâŠI canât see nothing of better than FS 2020âŠthis is frustration for meâŠI donât want refund I will continue to support Ms team but for now I will leave FS 2024âŠIâm not happy with FS 2024 sorry for that good work to all team see yoo when I will fly again this I love
Trouble is, without the toolbar in VR, you canât open the GTN750, or the EFB, or Sayintentions, or weatherâŠor anything to do with specific 3rd party aircraft or addons.
In short, if you want to fly with real-world precision, its impossible because you cannot open the instruments that you nedd in order to do so.
Doesnât matter how âbeautifulâ it looks if you canât fly properly.
With all due respect to the Community team, (I really do understand the position you are in), but you have to see this isnât enough. I paid $200 for the Aviator edition to find NONE of the local legends were updated for 2024. Heck, all of Carenadoâs aircraft went backwards. The GNS530 in the Beech18 doesnât even have the new Working Title one. Make them fix it, come on!
I understood when the 2024 Marketplace was delayed with everything else wrong. What isnât remotely acceptable is exactly what @NixonRedgrave has been saying. Some of us paid for hundreds or thousands dollars worth of aircraft and airports in 2020. We were told these would work day 1. Despite that not being true there are devs who are working hard to push updates to their aircraft and nothing is happening. The process has clearly worked, weâve seen a round of updates come through already for some of them but nothing since early December it seems. You already cost these devs a holiday season worth of revenue by closing the marketplace, at least tell us why all of their hard work through updates is not getting to us.
" Seb, and Martial go live to discuss the future development plans for Microsoft Flight Simulator."
I canât help but feel this might be an announcement of the PS5 (and potentially Switch 2) port, which has been heavily rumoured by insiders as part of MSâs new publishing strategy - (Forza Horizon 5, a tentpole title, was announced for PlayStation just yesterday).
I do wonder, if this is the case, how on earth they will manage to juggle even more platforms?
I did wonder though if this has potentially something to do with the delay to the marketplace rollout, as Sony and Nintendo have historically been somewhat stricter in allowing 3rd party purchases on their systems.
