Good post.
Thatās a bizarre negative reply to what was a positive post. I tried to read it as irony and that didnāt work either. ![]()
the problem is not the negativity of the messages after all everyone is free to judge objectively and appreciate their own level of contentment or discontent however it must be recognized that certain bugs or malfunctions can lead to feelings of discontent especially when these dysfunctions are reported repeatedly and cannot be taken into account
Weāre getting a whole new sim to address the limitations of the current engine. I fail to see what else Asobo can do?
If we donāt like the sim, we each have the choice to abandon ship and look elsewhere. But whichever option we choose, a computer game will NEVER be a perfect representation of the real world. Iāll stick my head above the parapet here and say that Iām sure the majority of us consider MSFS the very best flight sim experience ever to have ever existed. Sure, it has flaws but itās the most complete package out there. And Iām sorry, but the way the world outside the cockpit looks is an important part of the realism in 2024. We could sit here all day waxing lyrical about the advantages of the competition but they both lack the aesthetics of MSFS.
By the way, Iāve always found NixonRedgrave to be one of the more optimistic community members ā and certainly one with a lot to give.
The thing to also keep in mind is, sometimes not everyone is coming to these forums with pure intentions. Fanning discontent in our society and social media is relatatively easy to do.
For example, when FS2024 was announced, there were 5 people who were predominantly fanning the flames. One person, they appear to had recently purchased MSFS 2020 and something happened with their install. One person just thought if they kept pushing eventually Microsoft would give it away for free. One person just seemed to like to professionally troll. Their āmain point of contentionā changed in just about every negative thread about FS2024. Then there were two people who it seemed were XPlane fans who were trying to sabotage the new version. People will perhaps not agree with my assessment, but when new graphics could be added to XPlane and Austin was to be applauded for it, yet FS2024 adds new graphics and it was all to make Flight Simulator āgameyā, those arguments didnāt make sense. Eventually both of these people made big announcements that they were leaving and going to XPlane. Everyone has the right to like what they like. I just think there is a culture where people get lost in the moment and swept up in negative sentiment, particularly if it is one that works on peoples fears.
We have seen a number of these groundswell moments over the 4 years. The first announcement of FS2024. The flightsim.to change of policies statement. There are a number more. But these moments, a couple people post, the groundswell moment takes place, and then a majority of forum readers are up in arms. Yet a month of so later, people are fine and its like it never happened in the first place. Flight simmers are passionate about their hobby.
And hopefully the community didnāt give their statements a second thought. Being brutally honest, no oneās going to miss serial complainers. That they have to leave with fanfare is indicative of how they regard their own opinions as sacrosanct.
There are many myths about how MSFS is inferior to the other sims ā and most of them have been debunked by people way more experienced/knowledgeable than me.
No oneās perfect but I think Asobo are doing a stellar job with MSFS! If anyone dislikes the sim, theyāre welcome to leave ā just take any negativity with you and donāt project it onto the rest of us.
I will take 2 examples
- many users are forced 2 times out of 3 to reconnect their x box account to be able to launch the sim, this has been reported for a while
- during the mandatory updates preceding the city update or world update there is a hysterical tree autogen which places trees where there are none as well as on the grassy parts of certain airports. this has also been reported for a long time without anything being done and therefore people who do not know how to use the sdk cannot correct it themselves
it is perhaps understandable that this provokes negative opinions
The longer i use MSFS2020 the longer i go disapointed⦠there is ALWAYS a issue somewhere if not now it will be tomorow, after a year. I never saw such a instable program.
Itās a bit like life really. Far from perfect, but good enough.
If people are happy they fly; if they are having problems they will come here to make a negative post
I canāt even start to imagine what the idea is of complaining about āsomething is periodicly not working in 2020ā in this thread, and without any information at all.
Now letās hope for a marshaller we can insert at any landing/transport for helicopter guidance.
Oohh and sorry if I stole your thunder ![]()
