I will have to try one out before purchasing. I know exactly what I am going to get with a Quest device, but there are a ton of questions I would need answers to before purchasing any other manufacturer. Hopefully the Microcenter near me will carry the Dream Air 2 so I could give it a test. For now until I start seeing some reviews and rundowns on the headset I will just keep an eye on them.
Are you saying that the BSB2’s motion smoothing is bad?
Is there currently a headset that handles motion smoothing well at half the refresh rate?
Quest is out of the question, because I don’t want any “social media” headset, if you know what I mean.
I use Varjo Aero and it’s a must to use 45 fps/90 hz, because it’s not possible to get 90 fps. Unfortunately, motion smoothing in Aero is really bad, so it has to be off. This is something I really miss from the old Reverb G2, because with it, motion smoothing (Motion Reprojection) was much better.
I believe that
I would have to look to see if there is blur. I don’t really look to the very edge, but from what I remember when testing, there may have been a slight blur. Nothing that really stuck out to me.
I see. I will check that out next time I use them. I have not noticed anything that has stuck out to me like you described.
It came down to the Q3 or the PCL for me after researching a bunch of different headsets. The only reason I chose the PCL is the fact that I wanted a DP connection, have a high-end PC already, and the clarity/resolution was supposed to be crazy good. Cockpit clarity, for me, was priority #1. I couldn’t even begin to read the smaller steam gauges in my Index.
Anyway, whatever headset we use, the important thing is that we are all enjoying simming in VR. The only way to properly sim! Ha ha!
The BSB2 is a pure steamVR HMD, so the only motion smoothing it offers is the steamVR one.
My comment re: motion smoothing was a general comment, every type I’ve tried is unusable for me. Meta’s ASW was probably the best one, but I still can’t stand it. I like to pan around the plane quite a bit now and then, and seeing the plane/wings/whatever wobble all over the place is extremely immersion breaking imo.
I don’t mind the mostly subtle DLSS artifacts, but the repro artifacts I cannot ignore.
So yeah I’ve always used 45fps/90hz for years. Now with the BSB2 and a 5090 I can finally do 75fps native in FS24, which is mindblowing, especially when flying through canyons etc. Obviously the quality suffers a from turning down settings a bit and not superdampling, but currently I feel it’s worth it for the insane fluidity. And those MOLED panels don’t “strobe” at all at 75hz, unlike most other panels at 72hz.
In FS2020, with the right specs, you can actually do 90fps with the right settings, plane, and environment. Not in FS24 though.
G’day WM…went to download OpenXR and received this message….plus a whole lot of info, in red type, highlighting challenges with OpenXR.
AS OF 2024, SUPPORT FOR OPENXR TOOLKIT IS DISCONTINUED. THERE IS NO NEW DEVELOPMENT AND NO TECH SUPPORT OF ANY SORT. THE DEVELOPER DOES NOT RECOMMEND TO INSTALL/USE OPENXR TOOLKIT, AS IT IS KNOWN TO CAUSE ISSUES WITH MANY OF THE NEWER GAMES RELEASED IN SINCE 2024.
At the moment I’m using VR Desktop together with VR Streamer.
That’s been there for well over a year, maybe two. There are definitely no issues with FS20/24. Haven’t heard of issues with other games either.
It’s not openxr BTW, that’s an API. This is the openxr Toolkit
Excuse my ignorance…do I use Open XR with Virtual Desktop running at the same time?
Good Morning, Yes you use both. If you want I can send you the settings I am using in the OXR Toolkit. As said it is worth a try.
The tool will not be updated anymore, but still very working fine for me.
You are always using openxr if you are using FS in VR.
I wrote OXR Toolkit. This you have to Download and activate.
? I wasn’t replying to you, but to this post:
Excuse my ignorance…do I use Open XR with Virtual Desktop running at the same time?
As indicated on the top right of the post.
Thanks mate, that would be great…
Just downloaded V1.3.2
I sent you pm. In a few hours I will send you details,
Did u get my nessage regarding OXR TK? I can also send you the VD settings.
Would you share with me please.
I found I could not use OPEN XR with VD as they seemed to fighting with each other.
I didn’t think you could use both together
Of course,
Will try do do it in PM.
Did you get it? OXR TK and VD settings I have send.
I use both and they work fine together.
Yes thank you - I am sure I have done this similar set up in the past and I had such low single finger FPS that’s why I only used BD with very very similar settings - the FBW A320NX has such a blurred MCDU but in TAA that does not perform well for me in VD with low FPS again
this is my set i up with quest 3 and turtle beach peripherals
