That doesn’t sound like the thunder I’ve ever heard in the sim.
It’s getting to the point where live weather is useless in the sim. The least little puffy cloud in the sky triggers the rendering of severe thunderstorms. It’s getting to the point of sheer stupidity.
I guess I’ll be going back to Unreal Weather…
It looks like time lapse.
Yikes (from today’s feedback snapshot)

The target is this year but seeing as some other issues have SU6, SU7 added to them and they will be the 2 remaining updates in 2021. Am not gonna expect it fixed this year but if it somehow is resolved via

Will be all good.
Geez quickly call the cat to come home … the sky will open up any minute.
Absolutely ludicrous isn’t it.
I don’t think I managed to capture any actual lightning in that video, but there was some, usually just out of view. As I was turning I’d just catch a flash above me somewhere. As usual, if you look in the distance there are some darker clouds that are the source of the lighting, but it “leaks” out far too far from its source, and even they don’t look like too menacing.
It really needs to stop ASAP. Blue skies, just a handful of small clouds far away, here and there… Lighting and thunder as it is a heavy storm over barcelona!
Its getting more and more annoying… Lighting and thunder everywhere everyday… Destrois the whole experience.
Im at the point where id prefer if they just disable it completely till they finally find a fix…
Im at the same point. I defended the sim for a year, had understanding and patience for everything. But its getting harder and harder now. I guess it will need atleast another year to get a stable basee sim.
I wish there is a [BUG LOGGED] on this thread.
Getting rid of the lightning in live weather should be as easy as commenting out one line of code.
Make it non-functional until time can be spent on it.
I am starting to think that the reason this isn’t logged as a bug is because Asobo doesn’t understand the title of this thread. They probably assume all we want is an option to turn off lightning. I doubt they’ve read all the responses showing what the actual problem is. Today’s example near KFLL:
They also need to do something about the ridiculous sound of thunder. It sounds so fake and you would never hear it while in the cockpit
It was, one year ago, logged as a bug. But they said “solved” in one of the first SU…
Then, when it returned, the dev team said “we are aware about it, but we never found one”.
So…here we are again lol
It should be very easy for them to find, just using what is presented on the map screen.
What I would do is find an area with a large coverage of cloud cover. Then I would find an airport just outside of that cloud cover. At the top right it will indicate what type of weather is present, and obviously we would be looking for one showing the storms graphic. If you spawn at that airport I would almost guarantee that you would have thunder, and lightning, but you would not have the weather to match i.e. mostly clear skies with the odd few white clouds dotted about.
This bug was apparently fixed in the past, however the same issue has returned over the last month or two for me. Whenever using live weather, any clouds at all, no matter how sparse, will always produce some lightning. And if it is mostly cloudy, then the lightning basically never stops.
Is anyone else having this issue?
i to am finding this my flight deck looked like the was a million wat bulb in there
there is a topic already here Lightning in Live Weather - Excessive and where Lightning should not Occur - #164 by RageQuitBob that you can vote on if not done already.
I already did a while ago. That topic is old now. Wish this issue would get more attention.
