thats easy, orbs is for scenery, all their aircraft are nah, very mediocre.
To my knowledge, OrbX have only published one aircraft - their Optica. The other aircraft sold on OrbX Direct are from other 3rd party devs.
That’s true. And that Optica is not that great. This Optica seems to be way better. The other aircraft Orbx developed (though not published) is the Fokker VII for Microsoft/Asobo. We all know how that went. So forgive me, but I don’t have much of a baseline for expectations on Orbx aircraft. Maybe just focus on scenery.
I forgot that they developed the Fokker VII. I have that one in my hangar but haven’t spent much time with it yet…I didn’t realize that there are problems with it.
Haha guys thanks for all the support. Let’s keep competor talk to a minimum. Our Optica definitely has some strengths. You will all see it soon! Once again, thanks for the support. Looking forward to getting her out to you all. Just trying not to stir up the pot on this thread specifically.
Since this is the general Dev topic, how’s the Wildcat going? That’s what I’m most excited for.
We are on the coding phase, it’s a doozy but getting there. LOADS of switches which we are trying to simulate as accurate as MSFS lets us (Like Message of the Day and Morse Code stuff even…), however our biggest hurdle is finding sources for a great sound pack. We don’t want to use standard sounds for a legend like the Wildcat.
Beta Testing has officially started! Hopefully things run smoothly so we can deliver the EA-7 to your hangers soon! Here is the latest previews:
More information, dates, times, and release information to come!

Will there be an option to remove the livestock?
Absolutely, I’ll talk about that now.
The Cat and Dog (Matto & Kilo: Names) are a customizable companion feature. They are fully animated using bones (Like Wingflex). Not only are they very complex animations but they are fully incorporated into the weight loadout of the aircraft. You may turn on and off the companions and customize your weight payloads in Flight using a companion switch (Top Console).
Available Events:
1: Resting Dog & Sleeping Cat Cat
2: Dog Sitting
3: Dog Resting
4: Cat Resting
5: Cat Sleeping
6: None
The companions take place of the empty third seat. MSFS currently doesn’t support 3 characters in the cockpit. You can only visually see a Pilot and Copilot (As far as I’m aware) and the option to add a flight attendant or instructor has not been added yet.
Hope this answers your question, but yes, “livestock” can be switched off.
We are using the Edgley Optica as a test bed for the mod mentioned here:
Thanks. Would they have to be disabled every time or once disabled, do they stay disabled until enabled again.
It is based on your payload settings under the “passenger” weight selection prior to or during flight. Just like you put weight on co-pilot to see a 2nd human, you can put weight on Passenger to see a furry companion. Weight ammount determines if you have a cat, dog, or both. But in case you forget before flight (And I believe MSFS remembers your prior settings) you can switch it with a knob within a second or less time to remove them.
MSFS remembers your settings for some addons (JustFlight Pipers for example) but not for others such as Carenado which always start with a co pliot regardless. A pet (pardon the pun) hate of mine.
Removing Companions by Default on MSFS startup:
Please find your “flight_model.cfg” file in the aircrafts community folder.
Filepath: gotfriends-optica/SimObjects/Airplanes/gotfriends-optica/flight_model.cfg
Right Click → Open with Notepad, find this line, and only change the “170” to “0”. Go to File → Save, and Start MSFS. Now, your default weight loadout will be 0 lbs for a passenger instead of 170 lbs until you either change it back or update this aircraft in the future.
Speaking of the future, we will look at better alternatives and/or a way to save your last known companion configuration. However, for now, this is the best semi-permanent solution we have to save your weight loadout.
Thank you. I will do this for the Optica but wish I could do the same for all of my addons, except the cfg files are not always available of course.
They should be available. If for some reason they aren’t with a marketplace purchase I’ll include a free download (drag and drop to the community folder) that will permanently remove all companion functionality.
Defs excited for the pets and R3 update
Also, just wondering if you guys also will be updating your planes with the new prop physics?
