Have a look at a few Youtube videos perhaps and see what you think.
Personally, I’m not much of a fan of glass cockpits (which the FSR 500 has) or even turbine engines really but this one has now captured my interest and attention. It’s all I am flying at the moment. I find it really immersive and you have to ‘learn it’ at bit like the Comanche before you ‘master’ it.
I flew the Comanche almost exclusively for maybe 3 months because it is so good but even an AC as good as the Comanche gets ‘old’. The FSReborn F500 has now taken its place and imo that too is very good
It’s a great plane if you want systems depth like the TBM but it is all glass (G1000). That actually was the reason I picked it up, otherwise I’d just fly this TBM when I want that class/type of plane. Sometimes I want to mix it up and do things on a G1000. I considered dusting off the Asobo TBM930 for that experience but I’ll probably never fly that now that the FSR500 is out.
The Kodiak balances out my Blksq Caravan flying for both kinds of instruments and now I have this pair as well.
Back when FSX / P3D was still kicking I’m pretty sure that GA aircraft wise it was the best third-party developer out there by a long shot. That isn’t the case these days in MSFS. There are quite a number of GA aircraft by other third-party developers that are very, very good and worth using. Don’t get me wrong A2A is still very good and I love the Comanche but I will fly other aircraft. There are definitely other third-party developers worth checking out if you’re a fan of flying GA aircraft.
I have the FSReborn Sting s4 because I occasionally fly a steam gauge S4 in real life and it is quite impressive - but will likely not buy the FSReborn FSR500 because Glass, I have enough Glass already and am pretty unlikely to ever fly anything with a glass cockpit in real life.
The main aircraft I currently fly regularly are the TBM850 featured in this thread and the Comanche.
I mustn’t be using the KAS297B altitude selector correctly.
Once I reach the desired altitude using the AP IAS and have been cruising at that altitude, if I want to go down using the VS no matter what I do the plane will go into pretty strong up and down oscillations, I have to turn the AP OFF and re-engaged the AP for the oscillations to stop.
Can somebody describe the proper sequence to go from cruise altitude to a lower altitude using VS with the KAS297B altitude selector, thanks!
The best GA aircraft ever made (no don´t worry you are awesome too FlySimware Cessna Chancellor!) deserves the same great YouTube tutorial quality videos as the other best aircraft ever made, the Fenix Airbus.
Here is one:
At 1h and 14 minutes and 45 seconds he is beginning to initiate the descent in this video.
But what is even more important than a proper descent is the yeeeeeeha-button (it is hidden somewhere inside the cockpit, can you find it? )
I think a little bit of reading might help you here. Seeing busted limits on the engine trend monitor and this with three greens showing makes my eyes widen a touch. There are a lot of really good tutorials out there but dont forget the manual as well.
There is NO auto throttle in the 850!
Yes, so something must be bugged some where, when I do the exact same as illustrated in the video, the plane goes into up and down oscillations. Have to turn off the AP and re-engaged for it to stop!
Thanks for your previous reply.
Anybody else get really bad frames after a bit in cloudy weather? I have to cycle weather radar on and off to get them back. Just for them to get out of wack again. I go from 60fps to a slide show. Any ideas?
Yes, Just noticed this too. The longer the flight, the worse it gets. How do you “cycle weather radar” exactly? you mean turn it off then on? Does that work?
Found what the issue was with the pretty violent up and down oscillations when engaging the VS on the KAS297B Altitude selector.
When reaching the transition altitude I was pressing the STD button on the altimeter and adjusting by hand the co-pilot altimeter. Pressing the STD button is what created the problem. The work around it, is once passed the transition altitude, I use the set Baro pressure with the MSFS short key, then no more oscillations when I want to engage the VS!
That’s a bug at least on my system! Also flying with the TDS GTNxi 750.
Another thing I discovered is when switching back to the GNS 530 on the ground with plane shutdown. Once in the air with the GNS 530, the AP doesn’t work anymore, can’t select HDG, IAS, NAV etc. Hmm!!!
Yes, but it comes right back shortly after you do it. Pretty frustrating as this has existed from the beginning for me really. My guess is it isn’t optimized for “some” CPU’s.
It doesn’t matter. It has happened outside KDCA, outside LOWI, outside KPDX, etc. Location does not seem to be relevant from my perspective. Weather radar is the culprit, not the map.
