I just purchased MSFS2024. I am trying to bind my mouse so that I can scan around the cockpit using the mouse. I have tried multiple menu choices. Can someone advise which “view” menu choice allows you to scan around the cockpit. Thanks

I too had all sorts of problems saving and setting up custom camera views including the VFR pilot view, nothing seemed to be working correctly. Then I decided to use an old wired USB keyboard, made a copy of the default keyboard 2024 profile, deleted all of the assignments, then copied that and renamed it My Master Profile. I then assigned all of the keys the way I wanted and voila!!! everything worked perfect. Not sure what’s going on but maybe using an old USB keyboard or USB XBox controller for camera views is the answer for now.
My VKB Gladiator NXT has a POV ministick and a 4 way HAT.
I don’t like the POV because it jumps all around (spastic thumb).
So I use the 4 way HAT which uses the the Translate for the Cockpit left and right view changes.
Notice that you have to put the right 21 & 22 in the right column.
If you put them in the left column, it will do a + and add it to the other control there. ( like a shift + up)
R axis is the POV. Numbers are the 4 way HAT.
it is called a strafe and it works with shift A and shift D
They did not even warn us… In 2020 I used the key “END” to switch my view from the cockpit to chase external… In 2024…"End " does not work for me or any other key… I do not understand.
What is there to not understand? They have simply changed the default keys for the FS24 key bindings. It’s not that difficult to go into settings and look at what the new setting is (SHIFT X). There is a toggle for FS2020 key bindings, which I have not tried. I assume selecting this would give you END for the chase camera.
Thanks BB but I tried that and it did not work. Are you using the “X” key to switch views from the interior of the plane to the outside?
I am using a PC are you using a PC or the X Box?
yes I know they changed the bindings, almost everything was easy to change…but no matter what I tried…it would not work…ho hum, I use the camera to switch between interior and exterior
that image is from my 2024,you will notice x does not mention anythibng about toggle. But I will try it …thanks for your suggestions
I have your same problem. Whatever I do I cannot pan in the cockpit using my hat switch as I did in MSFS2020. I’m using a VKB Gunfigter Joystick that is just awesome, but it looks like MSFS2024 doesn’t appreciate. Please let me know if you solve the pan issue. Thx
Hi,
what is the purpose of having 2 rows? (new to MSFS)
Peter
The left is called the Primary mappimg and the rignt is the Secondary.
On the left, you can map one button or axis.
On the right, you can map one button or axis.
Here’s a doosy… Camera Control “MOVE RIGHT”. Wouldn’t one think that was to move the viewpoint to the right? Well, hover over the control name in the table and see that the Description is “While in Photo Mode, move right” Brilliant. It takes work to mess things up like this.
that internal/external switch is now the backspace key
That control is for Photo mode.
You want to look right via View or Look as a Search.
Looks to me like they made a very conscious decision to throw away everything ever learned about flight sim controls from every sim in the history of PCs, MSFS especially, and have someone who has never used a flight sim design the naming and control scheme.
I forgot to add - this was all done in French, and then translated literally into English words, adding another barrier layer of obfuscation.
Yeah i have a vkb gunfighter and stecs and quut playing the game because i cant set up a view high enough to see out the cockpig toneven taxi in a 72. Stupid naming methods, saves dont stick, and i finally decided to stop wasting my time.
how to view the overhead panel in the default A320?
I can only rotate to see the bottom of the overhead, can see the top?
