All the same elements are in the game before you thought it was not a game but a sim.
It’s whatever you want it to be. Some call it a sim, some a game. Personally I say that FS24, like FS20 and all FS before it is a computer game. We’re sat in front of our PC or in our armchair in front of our Xboxes and we are playing a computer game. If somebody knocks on the front door we get up and answer it. Some will accelerate the speed of the game to fly a 16 hour flight in 2 hours. That’s not true simming. Then again there are those who take it to simming levels even down to opening the window on the aircraft and shouting aloud “props!” (I saw that on YouTube once). That’s a bit too nerdy for me, but whatever floats your boat as they say.
Though I differentiated between game and sim in my earlier post that was purely looking at it as a collective, not as my own personal view.
FS 24 is a game. Flying a plane in FS in no different from riding the Battle Bus in Fortnite.
Well, whatever it is. It’s broken. Gave it a try just now and too much nonsense is happening. Call it bugs, stream problems, not tested… About the stream thing, Jorg latest statement was that everything works fine. It doesn’t.
- Changing graphics from low end or custom to high end. You can’t do it in one step.
- Starting the Saab 340 with the REX livery I had default, it starts with the pink livery everytime .
- Can’t select the REX livery anymore in the Saab 340.
- Streaming issues? It takes long to start FS2024.
- Streaming issues? Other planes are not streamed completely.
This was just trying to do a flight with the Saab 340 REX. Back to FS2020 for me once again. Dear Jorg, the software is half baked, test your software please. This is too simple to test and clearly that’s where you’re lacking. And if you did test you shouldn’t have released it.
i kinda understand their position on that
i think pulling 2024 now would be even worse, it would be a scandal, it would make headlines
i think, were I in their position, the best course of action is to plow forward as best you can, at this point the damage is done, now the best you can do is tie yourself to the main mast and weather it out
That’s true. From the moment I launch the game via the Steam client it takes an average of 2 minutes to get into the game menu. Then perhaps another 30 seconds once I actually launch the flight I want to when I get to press the fly now button
Still playing and trying to find anything fun in this sim but I can’t because nothing works.
NOTHING. WORKS.
Everything is broken in some way. The controls. The Cursor Mode. The missions. The Career mode. The streaming. Every single aircraft.
This simulator is Flight Simulator ordered from Wish. It’s a joke, a mockery of aviation. An insult to the simming and gaming community. A disgrace to the franchise and to all companies involved.
well, the game has too many issues, no doubt, and they need to be fixed
i can’t say i feel as strongly as you about it though
but this:
this the thing…
i have spent 10 days wrestling with it… and that’s not fun
i’m still waiting to find “the” thing that’s going to make me switch to 2024 and never look back
i haven’t found it yet
every time i fire up 2020 i get that “this is home” feeling, everything works and everything is were it should be, and i can enjoy my time after work
whereas 2024 has been like a second job so far
i’m still waiting
Yes I’m will you. Today has been terrible my performance has for some reason dropped off a cliff. The ini builds aircraft don’t work all rubbish from avionics issues to not being able to move them on the ramp. Thank god for fenix is all I can say.
Free fright is a disaster zone the gentleman is right nothing works! You can’t even get out of the SIM without it crashing literally have to pull the cable out the wall.
Having seen how 2020 went over its 4 years lifespan and now seeing how this is launched, it’s infuriatingly frustrating, because there is massive potential for it, but I actually doubt that even 2024 will ever be right.
Something is fundamentally wrong in either how MS/AS go about testing what they do or they simply do not know how to make their vision become achievable.
I mean, why are the flight school HQ’s subject to LOD issues. Just have a standalone interior which we see when our character is at their laptop.
We never see the interior from outside / when in the plane, so in theory it could be photo realistic, it would not impact performance.
Im happy to be proven wrong, but there is too much fundamentally broken, again, that I just do not see this sim living up to what we had hoped for / were led to believe we would get.
My very simple question is this: who is flying ABSOLUTELY vanilla?
…
Isn’t that the cause of all the issues?
…
Because we can’t, at the moment.
The dumbest choice has been porting all incompatible 2020 content to 2024. That has maybe caused 80% of all issues (after the bandwith issue was tackled).
I’ve never bought anything form the marketplace. That’s about as vanilla as it gets.
Fair enough. Could this maybe mean that also the base content of MSFS has been ported and incompatible?
Yup I’ve finally uninstalled and gone back to 2020. I’m a GA pilot and right now the GA experience is completely fugazi. They’ve released a dud.
Someone let me know when 2024 gets back to 2020’s functionality. All I want is 2020 with 2024’s graphics.
Preordered on day one, still haven’t installed. Will check back every now and then to see when it gets usable. Not refunding it. I’m confident it will eventually be fixed up mostly.
Great job, marketing! You got it out the door on time and that’s what’s most important, isn’t it?
I get the impression that this game has not been tested. There are a lot of just stupid mistakes here. For example, stones on the runway. Which cause the plane to crash on takeoff. The mission starts without the parking brake. When the plane can roll off a cliff. These are errors that are fixed with a single line in the code. But they are there.
I’m not talking about serious mistakes. When textures are loading very slowly, for example. Or a scientific mission that causes the game to crash. And it resets the rating…
I’m a regular user. I’ve been playing MSFS since 1999. And I am very disappointed that the developers have released a very expensive and very unfinished product.
5 Minutes now and not loading a f… thing!
500MBit fibre glass internet connection and yet it is an ashaming result of total technical fail on MS/Asobo side!
What else shall people do to make it work??? Move to the US to be as close as possbible to the servers? Invest additional money in VPN software?
This state of the Sim is a yoke even 2 updates/patches after the release.
Sorry but freaking bloatware at the moment and nothing more!
Not personal feedback more data driven feedback from steamDB.
The fact that a 4-year-old game is getting more active players then the new version should be a message to MS.
Get your s… together and make MSFS 2024 a success story as we all hope for.
Start talking honestly about the current issues and fix it quickly!
Make it as enjoyable as you announced it already!
Well knowing there might be more players on gamepass than with 2020. Anyhow this is the only reliable source we have so far as customer feedback.
My Flight Simming day today:
-
Making a video about how Taog’s Huey has abnormal performance hunger compared to FS2020.
-
Trying the native iniBuilds T-33 for FS2024 that didn’t work properly (erratic engine/throttle behavior that made flying it impossible).
-
Trying the Career Mode for the first time. See below (it worked 10 minutes later, though, although with very long loading times and stuttery cutscenes).
- Trying some Free Flight with the Cessna 172, but it wouldn’t start from cold and dark. No lights working, no peep from the engine, nothing …
After that I had enough for today. I will try again tomorrow, hopefully with better luck.
is it just me?
I set a 100GB cache in under 2 minutes. What magnetic tape drive were you using?
Also, the cache sometimes worked… then when I ran the sim again, it didn’t load map/airport/plane data the first time. The cache is ahem hit and miss.
