Since this has come up a few times already, I’m going to post it here publicly. Do not send me private messages about people you suspect may have cheated. If you’re reviewing logs, post your findings publicly in this thread, allow other members of the community to verify your claim, and give the individual an opportunity to explain themselves as there may be a legitimate reason for what appears to be a discrepancy in their logs.
Hi Seedy, Thanks for the event, was exhausting but fun.
The only remark I want to make about my result is that Simair went belly up on me after a CTD at Gallup NM. The entire last leg was not logged, but my entire flight from JFK to LAX was streamed - So there is no doubt about how I did the flight if you want to refer to that.
At the same time, I understand completely if that simair is the only acceptable proof of completion – Rules are rules. SO thats fine too.

The same thing happened to me. The second leg of my flight (KLBE → KLH2) didn’t log correctly. Your completion time of 21:26 is reasonable, you’re not claiming first place, and you streamed your entire flight opening yourself to scrutiny, so I’ll count your time as legitimate.
There seems to be two issues with the tracker and being able to validate so far:
I’m seeing a couple drop offs that just kind of pick back up somewhere, as if it stopped tracking then once the sim/app was restarted, came back online. A lot of these legs don’t start or end with PARKED as well, which seems odd to me. Can we verify what conditions must be in place for the PARKED tag to show up? Is it just 0 ground speed?
Those who flew all in one instance, the map doesn’t seem to display enough detail to discern which airports were stopped at. For example, my route of flight was:
KJFK-KAGC-KIND-KRAW-KLBL-P14-KLAX
It’s difficult to see specifically where I stopped due to the line’s lack of detail, and the Events tab does not display location.
I don’t want to call anybody’s times out as this could just be the data set we’re working with, but it’s hard to tell what’s 100% legit. For those with verified drops in coverage, how do you want to proceed with the validation?
EDIT: Perhaps if there is a dispute with the tracker for those who streamed, a link to the VOD? This is the primary reason I wanted to stream, but my internet upload speed would not support it.
I had 2 ctd’s, the first time set me back 2,5 hours to the last savepoint, the second one i started at the airport closest to the position at the ctd. I did not wanted to start at my last savepoint again at 04:00 in the morning after already being awake for almost 20 hours at that point (and I still had 900 nm or so to go…)
Edit: I see now that i actually did restart at my last savingpoint after the 2nd CTD , it was a touch and go just 20 mins before the 2nd CTD. Unfortunately Simair stopped registering that new leg, the leg after that one is registered again.
At least i can say I flew it without errors that were my own fault, I don’t care about the price, I was not in it to win it
I had 1 CTD and I went back to my last save point, between that and having to reboot my entire PC to get SimAir to reconnect (after already getting back in the air for ~15 min and seeing it not start to log me), it probably cost me ~3 hours.
In retrospect I probably should have turned Real Traffic and Ground Aircraft off for this event. I suspect that the SimObjects that the sim creates and destroys to implement these have a negative overall impact on stability. It seems that there have been some fixes to Real Traffic lately so there are now a lot more AI aircraft in the zone where they are visible.
I, too, had a CTD at the first fuel stop. I made the decision to totally reboot the PC, restart the simair client, and start a new flight plan at every fuel stop. I think that helped my stability after doing that. After all, we were required to stop for ten minutes anyway. And I also think it took care of the FS memory leaks, that have plagued me. Also, I quit to the main menu to update the log before each reboot. My system actually took about ten minutes minimum to restart. It was a GREAT TRIP. I dont know that I would do the whole thing again, realizing that almost 24 hours was needed. But What an EXPERIENCE. And now I am VERY comfortable with the Steam gauge 172.
Yes, I think that was a better technique, restart each time. Re-familiarity, Right? the practice in type an added bonus.
Apologies on my part for posting a discussion type entry on the results thread, I deleted and moved it to the main thread.
my time, not including when i decided to go to sleep and close the game, was 27 hours 8 minutes. my full time is probably 1 day 11.5 hours since i decided to go to sleep. I did use a few addons meant to make flight models more true to life, so i wont be submitting my time to the form
I only had two issues during the flight that prevented a clean run. The first was my own stupidity where I forgot to add fuel at a fuel stop. Just quit and started from the airport I did the fuel stop at. It only cost me about 10 minutes.
The other was when simair started bugging out for everyone. If I had left it alone it wouldn’t be an issue, but alas, I attempted to restart it. It left one of my flights as stopped mid flight and wouldn’t continue tracking. I have the foreflight ground track of it if it helps verify it.
Thanks, seedyL for the event really enjoyed myself only got 590 km first attempt 490km the second one from kjfk 2 CTD, and sim air would not load for me after that. nearly finished to klax only had 280 km to LA then Howard’s stream went so after 30hrs we stopped and I did the 280km to klax this morning just to complete it, great fun had by all, and congratulations to winner Jeff Cat NL and for DrNoThumb7944 flying the Pitts all that way man that was something no a/p well done.
Well, I decided to go back and finish my last leg after all.

Hey @roymal9, I’m having trouble figuring out your SimAir log. I can’t seem to find one flight (or a combination of several flights) that takes you all the way from JFK to LAX. You mentioned SimAir wasn’t loading for part of your flight, so what was your total event time?
@CavemanCentaur If you finished the event by landing at KLAX at 1803 Mountain Time today (Dec 27), then your total event time is 36:03. Race time is measured as the number of hours and minutes from takeoff in JFK (at 1300Z on Dec 26) until you come to a full-stop landing at KLAX in real time, not the number of hours you spent in the sim. I’ll adjust your result for the official leaderboard.

JeffCatNL Crashed into some trees at PH0176 at , and failed to go back to his last savepoint. Several people whitnessed that crash on his own stream and we discussed it with him on the discord chat channel. He then left the channel…
He should have returned to his last savepoint (K6M6) which would set him back 2 hours and 22 minutes, but instead he decided to take off from K0H1.
So i think those 2 hours and 22 min should at least be added to his Total Flight time.
Are you going to ignore extra time due to CTD’s? If so, my time would be 21:40. If not, some people should change their times (including me)
