MSFS2020 CTD at the top of New Zealands South Island since update 16

Uninstalling the POI package did work. As an additional check, I re-installed it and deleted my rolling cache on the off chance that some sort of conflict with something in the cache was the cause of it all, but that did not help.

This issue is already bug-logged here: SU16 - Reproducible CTD over NZ South Island with NZ POIs and DX12

My CDT issue was resolved by removing the WU 16 New Zeland POI. Thank you.

Our flight group was having same issues with NZCH and NZHK most of use are from north america. however one of the members is from New zealand and he did not have any CTD

Boh! I’ve spend soooo long looking for this… Having similar issues: every single flight from nzwn to nzqn caused a CTD somewhere southeast of Waipapa Bay… Guess I haven’t had time to fly here since su16… Too bad that after so many months apparently the issue still persists for some of us. I’ll try uninstalling the poi like mentioned above. Has anyone tried reinstalling the poi to see if files are corrupted by su16?

Hi I have tried re installing the POI and unfortunately it again CTD over NZ South Island. So for me at least I have accepted NOT to worry about the POI until Microsoft release an update. I hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Bob

I got a CTD flying the CJ4 from YSSY to NZCH, removed the POI as described and was able to complete the flight successfully.

Asobo please fix this!

I recently experienced CTD from a section of South Island, New Zealand. This Range is approximate, but when flying south from NZWN (*North Island) down east coast approaching KI VOR,

  • Starting at NZKI
  • Starting at Christchurch (NZCH).
  • Northerly flight starting from Queenstown (NZQN) about 50 miles, before it CTD and I gave up flying that region.

I removed my Community folder and the CTD still happens.

  • When I mention Starting, above, I create a new flight from a parking space at those airports. I have been starting with a flight plan entered in World before beginning. But once I started without a flight plan and still CTD.

Having the same problem. From NZKI to NZCH, several minutes out from KI, MSFS crashes. Tries disabling all add-on, and messing around with other stuff. Then I find this post!

I mean, what the hell. Isn’t updates suppose to improve stuff, not breaking it!

Do better, MS. That’s why I did not purchase 2024. I know that it will take years for them to debug the thing! Maybe 2028, then I will see what happen. Even 2020, they could still manage to introduce new bugs into it! WTF!

Changing the DirectX version seem to work for me.

Happy flying.

I have experienced a very same problem. I have been trying to fly from RJAA to NZCH in the A350, about five times already. Each time, after hours of flight time, my game crashes just short of the top of descent.

Hi Apparently there is a BETA SU16.1 out now which fixes the issur if you are OK trying a BETA. or you can disable the NZ POI which also stops the CTD.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Bob
