[MSFS2024] Antonov An-2

Probably. I’d put money on it if I was a betting man. I wouldn’t have thought about it

I think it’s mostly down to the amount of cargo (in weight) it can carry. Almost all of the missions I see have way higher weight requirements.

I was really looking forward to this update and I must admit I am disappointed. I know it’s just a sim and not certified for anything, but I was hoping for a step forward in terms of performance data. If somebody from MS/Asobo is reading this: As a realworld AN2-pilot I offer you to work with you and get that performance right. Just drop me a DM, I would be more than happy to help. There are segments where it absolutely makes sense right now, but there are also things which are off quite a bit. For example the flap performance during approach. There is way too much drag coming from them.

the biggest drawback is the lack of reverse on the float model

Does the real floatplane one have reverse? Sorry I only fly the passenger and skydive versions in real life

Hi guys, is there somewhere a new manual for the new version? Under the usual Asobo link I find only the 2020 version (even if it’s called version 2 once downloaded). And do we have the changelog somewhere?

Although I have to second the impression, that something with the drag and/or power in the flight model is more off than before I am all in all veery thrilled with the update.

Even more, that within days the english translation cockpit mod has been updated and there are even the first liveries available. This plane is ALIVE again!

Only thing that’s missing now is an implementation of @Sal1800 's superb AgNav Mod for the Crop Duster Variant. :innocent:

Yes it does… it’s nesessery for float model, but it’s absent in the sim model unfortunately

Wow, she sure is one noisy lady. Stops on an instant with reverse but one seems to need to be aware of the propensity to backfire with that - tons of flames with that timing being thrown out.

Your chances might be better when you directly try to get in touch with ATSimulations (https://atsimulations.com/) who developed the aircraft, OR open a bug report with your findings that gets forwarded to them by MS.

Microsoft basically commissioned the aircraft for the sim but some of the developers are open for direct feedback while others are not.

What do you mean, then you said about reverse?

No, i’m commenting about the video and how quickly she stops in reverse on water.
I also commented about the flames that came out of the exhaust when forward thrust was re-applied and the timing was out because the flames show this.

It’s nesessery to tell the developer that us really need the reverse at the float model. It was named AN-2B.

Yes agreed, it is a lovely addition. However, in the video explanation it seems it was a later edition add-on. Yes, we would all like that.

You can translate this one. AN-2B was developed in 1951y.

Flying at the float model is not interesting without reverse…

Hello everyone,

At the moment I’m flying the passenger version of the Antonov An-2, and overall I’m very happy with the aircraft. I follow the checklist, and the airplane performs excellently.

However, after several flights I noticed something that seems unrealistic to me. The aircraft can start as long as the fuel pump is on, the magnetos are switched on, and the mixture is set correctly, even if you do not prime or pump the engine beforehand. In other words, the airplane can be started without carrying out those steps.

I believe this is incorrect, and I think the developer should at least make it so that the aircraft will not start if these procedures are skipped. In my opinion, this is a rather weak point of the simulation.

Hello Nismo558,
That is exactly what I noticed as well.
In the end, this means that the engine can be started easily with very few adjustments, which does indeed seem unrealistic.

  • Throttle slightly forward

  • Propeller forward

  • Mixture control to rich

  • Battery on

  • Starter on

  • Magnetos 1+2

  • Flywheel approx. 60%

  • Starter

Then the engine starts immediately. No priming, no fuel pump.

So I tried to do a medium cargo route in the an2, but the an2 says it’s not got enough fuel for medium cargo 3 hour routes, they need move it to light cargo so you can do light cargo ops with it
