[MSFS2024] De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter

I bought the Aviator version, and I don’t even have this plane, I think im missing a few planes, how can I install it?

It’s named De Havilland DHC-6-300

I have it on good authority that the twotter is the best digital twin in the sim!

What’s a “digital twin”?

In my opinion the best twin in 2024 is the Albatross.

I keep getting engine malfunctions and then my engines fail, every flight.

I’ve tried starting from cold & dark using the checklist, I’ve tried starting with ctrl-e, I’ve tried starting at the runway with the engines already running.

I’ve tested in multiple environments: in hot climate, in cold climate, in cold snowy climate both with and without icing on.

Always full up on fuel.

Always the same thing: engine malfunction warning (the in-game assistant warning) after 2-5 minutes, and then the engines fail one at a time, usually a couple minutes apart.

Not sure what is going on.

second screenshot is right after the engines died. They are still running and turning, they just aren’t generating any thrust anymore.

Yes sir exactly right same here always right engine. Also the Auto pilot wants to kill you after a while plane wants to dive, autopilot still looks engaged.

Plane is unusable at this time!

What annoys me is that I paid for the Aerosoft verison of this plane, and despite its shortcomings it is one of my favourite planes to fly and now all I’m left with is a worse version that I can’t even use my old 2020 liveries with. There were 13 variants in the original, including one with the tundra tyres now there are only three variants. Its the same story with the beaver, the tundra version of that is gone as well.

100% agreed, I flew mainly the Twin Otter in 2020 with a ton of fun, free liveries.

The 2024 Twin Otter feels like such a let down for what is in real life a versatile workhorse of a plane.

Another issue I’ve noticed in the Twin Otter is that the minimap in the heading HUD in external view doesn’t zoom out like it does in other planes, it’s always at maximum zoom level such as when you are on the runway.

Thirdly, I’ve had some bugs with the g530/430. In one of my playthroughs today when you start up from cold & dark and you need to hit enter twice to activate the device, this wouldn’t work. I kept trying the ENT button and nothing would happen. This only has happened to me once, so it doesn’t seem to be a consistent bug.

Other times, the FPL button does not load in properly on the 530. You can see this in my screenshot above.

If you start on the runway ready to go, there are passengers in the back of the plane. If you start cold and dark it seems to be impossible to get passengers to appear. I’ve tried adding them with the EFB on the free flight screen before the flight loads to no avail. You can’t even fill every seat, only the window seats and if you try to change the passenger weights with the EFB whilst in game it weirdly defaults every position to some rediculous weight like 150kg. At one point it was almost sitting on its tail with the extra weight in the back! The twin otter is the only plane so far where the bugs have made me actually annoyed.

Anyone else having issues with the doors ?

Glass is popping out when opening.

That’s a new one, lol but yeah I see a few graphic anomalies here and there on several aircraft. I would somewhat understand for a 2020 plane pull into the new Sim not being 100% But a plane from Microsoft NEW as part of the 2024 release its a shame.

I’ll see your popping out glass and raise you a detached door frame

I like the way they have thoughtfully left the tape from when they painted the livery across the door opening so no one can fall out if I forget to close the door before take off.

And don’t forget that the cockpit doubles as a wet room. That floor has the same lino (linoleum) as the showers at my local gym.

Ugly doesn’t quite describe this bird. Does the DHC-6-300 have a TAWS? Or was that thrown in? When I heard, “don’t sink”, I started wondering if my copilot was awake.

How do the wing tanks work on this? Manual says to just flip the two wing tank switches under the yoke to ‘engine’ but that seemed to do nothing, main tanks were still draining and wing tanks kept their precious nectar. The ‘refuel’ switch position worked though, managed to pump a couple gallons into the wing tank which wasn’t ideal as I couldn’t get them back out! Is there a specific combo of pump switches and fuel selector knob position I’m supposed to use?

Ran out of fuel over water and managed to land safely. Someone tow me back to sure with my half full wing tanks please.

That floor texture was the last thing that prompted me to go to sleep during the last aircraft preview stream. Looks so unreal in a plane that’s supposed to be old and beautiful.

Also, doesn’t the 400 use a Honeywell epic glass cockpit? Since the sim now has one of those, i would also liike the 400 version to be included.

Engine sounds do not sound accurate at all. That is my only concern for this aircraft. Please change it fs24 team!
