[MSFS2024] Draco X

If I remember correctly, I did bind it as mixture…

I have an extremely hard time landing this plane because it can basically fly at idle throttle. Makes bleeding speed extremely difficult. Can anyone give me some tips? Is this how it is in real life? Never flown one.

A couple options to slow you down:

On Ground:

  • Braking of course…
  • Parking Brake is available and toggable via Pilot Rudder Pedals
  • Keep your stick back so you don’t flip on your nose at high speeds
  • Use Low Idle to Taxi around on the Condition Lever
  • If you still are having a hard time, drop the propeller pitch lever down to a reasonable level…

In Air:

  • Load some Cargo to increase weight if needed…
  • Make sure you’re coming in to land at full flaps
  • Use rudder to induce slip angle to bleed speed on landings
  • Drop the engine to Low Idle if needed…
  • Lastly, you can also place your throttle handle into Reverse Thrust on landing to really kill speed… and almost dangerously fast if you’re not careful.

Is the trim axis reversed for anyone else(relative to other planes eg the Cessna)? Easy enough to rebind per plane now, but I thought it was odd.

Watching AVAngel fly it around helped. She has a fun video on it.

For me it’s working normal bindings.

Just wanted to drop a compliment for the devs on this airplane for how polished it is!

Most other airplanes I’ve tried to fly in 2024 have been so full of major problems I’d have given up on 2024 had it not been for the Draco X. It feels like this one was tested, even in VR.

I have the same problem.

I had one issue with the AP so far where it caused the airplane to want to go into a hard dive. This even after trying altitude hold.

It only happened on one flight so far.

I’m not sure if this is specific to this airplane but I noticed two issue on the G3X:

  1. You are unable to set a second flight plan after completing a flight. I did some bush trip hops with walkarounds in-between. After the first flight I couldn’t get another flight plan to take.
  2. I was unable to use the Direct To button from the Nearby list. I had to punch in the code. In most Garmin systems, they seem to have a direct to in the list. The physical button just brings up the option to enter a waypoint.

I find it hard to keep this bird straight on the centerline when taking off. A full right pedal is not enough?

Any suggestions?

This is a magnificent beast.
And it feels good to fly.
Only just had a first flight ( a career mode ferry flight).
But.
It’s a long one, so I’m trying to use autopilot.
It seems to me to be overly twitchy on the vertical speed and ends up oscillating out of control. I had to abort the mission.
The lateral autopilot on the 172 was similarly aggressive but that seems now to be better.

Anybody has any issue with G3x PFD/MFD when GTN750 is installed? If I install it, both G3x screens are showing only PFD stuff, no MFD content on right one at all.

Pull the stick while building speed, this will improve rudder authority to maintain a straight path in the takeoff roll.

I’ve just had a joyous time, in this aircraft in a Career Mode search and rescue mission and it really is great fun to fly.

One thing that I noticed however, was the FLIR camera, on the right hand PFD, does not appear to highlight the ground staff on the runway, for example. As a working FLIR would be likely to assist with my pretty poor “man-level” finding skills, in S&R missions, is this a feature that is ever likely to be added?

There is an odd sound when the engine is running, almost music-like, and it’s on a loop. It’s very annoying. Anyone else noticed this?

Funny for a plane that lands off airport and likely on slopes to not have a parking brake. He needs a stick to wedge on each pedal brake…maybe model that as a clickable item for the parking brake!

Is this airplane available in 2020? It’s the only thing wanting me to fly in 2024 at the moment.

Are there any known fuel issues?

  1. I’ve found the left wing seems to drain when both pumps are on, and the fuel selector is on both. I need to switch to right to balance.
  2. Shutting off the left pump only will cause the engine to stop. Haven’t tried the right pump yet.
  3. How do you use the lower tanks, is it automatic? I see no transfer switches.

it’s voluntary because the number of maps in the cockpit is limited by Asobo.
