Nice!
Have you tried switching pilot positions and dropping the load from the rear facing seat?
I did, although its not viable at the moment as in reality the pilot maintains directional control while the crew chief maintains altitude at that seat. To do both from the rear with the pitch controls reversed is not favorable!
As a IRL Util pilot (no skycrane experience sadly) everything about this just feels wrong. its ok to fly straight and level but as soon as you attempt a construction job it gets super weird.
1st off the towers always seem to spawn in the worst spot surrounded by trees.
Second those trees seem to have some weird forcefield around them that pushes you skyward without any warning making it almost impossible to hook up the towers.
3rd i really wish they would make a setting so that when you switch into the rear facing pilots seat you dont have to invert your control axis manually. The cyclic axisā should maintain their directionallity with respect to the helicopter, ie pulling aft cyclic in the back seat should move the helicopter forward.
The ground effect bug(Where approaching a raised platform\house would kick you skyward messing up your approach) was patched out a few patched ago, but i havent flown the Skycrane for a while so it might have some unique bugs.
Right, this issue was addressed and fixed. Although I think thereās still not 100% fixed, but itās considerably better than it was. The missions for helicopters in general are a huge problem. And itās not just for the Skycrane. Itās literally all of them. From Ag and SAR missions to heavy lift missions. Something like 50% or more of them are bugged in some way. Some are so bad you canāt even start the mission.
One of the biggest glaring issues isnāt necessarily a bug I feel, itās the fact we have ZERO firefighting capability for this helicopter and itās been 7 months since this sim launched and no explanation as to why all of itās features for doing so were removed and firefighting for helicopters in general have been left out completely from the promised missions sets in this sim.
you are preaching to the choirā¦![]()
This basically has the same problem as default Chinook. The helicopter throttle axis in game skyrockets bird into the sky, even with collective on minimum in this case. There must be a bug with engine control. This axis appears to have no effect with engines at ground idle, so during engine start the engine and rotor will overpass 100% rpm resulting in an instant lifting and loss of control during engines start procedure itself. The only way I found to solve this was to perform start with engines levers on full and helicopter throttle axis on minimum, as this allows engines and rotor stay on the green rpm zone and fly with that game axis set to minimum as well.
Cheers
Has anyone managed to somehow set up cargo or the water variant to be used in free flight? I am unable to figure out the controls of either variant, the water variant doesnāt respond to any of the controls that you would use to control the firefighting planes, and the cargo variant does not display or hide cargo if weight is adjusted for ācargoā in EFB
Nope, for some reason this is absent from the native systems for helicopters in MSFS2024. I wrote a pretty big rant about it awhile agoā¦
Iām not the only one who has noted this

Ah I see, thatās unfortunate, I was hoping that I am simply missing some controls
The S-64F has just released on the msfs2020 marketplace ![]()
does anyone know where i can find the manual ? As i cannot seem to get the rotorbrake to function properly, or is there a procedure i need to follow for the rotorbrake
Is this a separate version than the one in 2024? I own it in 2024, yet 2020 wants me to purchase it. Maybe I am getting my wires crossed, but I thought that if you owned it in 2024, you owned it when it got ported back to 2020 as well. Did I miss something here? Thanks.
Give it abit of time, you should also own it in 2020 but that can take abit to happen
The flight model seems to be totally off. Hadnāt tried this helo before today, so maybe it was better before SU4. But as of now it handles as if it were made out of paper. WAY too sensitive to all controls for such a big and heavy machine. Just a touch of collective and it skyrockets while turning and twisting with every slight cyclic and anti-torque input. 10x that of the already very nimble H125ā¦
