Gotta be the Duke…
I own the COWS DA42 and it’s great, a very well done plane, but almost too easy, not much to worry about on a longer flight. But I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Duke. I’m waiting for the starship though
Had the 414 in 2020 and loved it, I don’t think you can go wrong with any. Just depends on what level of immersion you’re after.
42 = easy to get going, modern, very automated
414 = more involved but an excellent flying airplane
Duke = about as real as they come, how all msfs planes should be done
Thank you guys so much for all the the quick feedback so far, there seem to be a lot of GA enthusiasts out there…
I will say that the DA42 is out of the race already and it has nothing to do with quality.
Since I already own the brilliant DA40-XLS the DA42 wouldn’t add that much of new flying experience besides the offerings of the second engine. It is basically, more or less, the same plane. It might be a bit of a stretch but you get the point.
It hurts a bit, I really love the DA40 and would love to have the DA42, but I also want to get the most value out of a purchase.
So we are down to the Dukes and the Chancellor
Knowing what I know now I would have spent the money on the Duke over the 414. I’ll eventually pick up the blacksquare king air as well
I feel a bit guilty for not having provided any specifics about what I am looking forward the most in a GA plane.
Ordered by priority:
- cockpit, engine/props and general sound design
- overall immersion and realism factor
- wear & tear, failures, state saving (something I really miss in the Kodiak and love so much in my Cows DA40).
- VFR friendly cockpit views
Regarding the DUKES, I am not sure if it would be smart to invest so much money in the bundle at this point in time just to see Blacksquare coming up with overhauled versions of the Dukes specifically for MSFS24?! I probably couldn’t cope with that…
I’ve seen a lot of videos with both Duke’s in 2024 but not sure if those were 2020 purchases that were brought over. I haven’t seen anything explicitly saying that they are 2024 compatible but I also haven’t been following too closely just waiting for the starship
With those priorities it’s the Duke all day
I have seen this as well. Anyhow they are working fine as of now. And you could say this for almost any other recommendation in this topic.
If you are desperatly looking for Carrer Mode you might wait, but I have not seen that it is confirmed they will be compatible.
On top nobody knows right now if you could purchase them outside the MP and they will still work inside the carrer mode.
Also this is the same for almost every other plane in this topic.
I am flying the 414, 310r and the duke’s in FS2024 and right now there is no dealbreaker so far.
Since I do not own the DA I cannot comment on them.
The video I posted above is my Turbine Duke I bought in a 2020 marketplace sale being flown in 2024 a couple of days ago.
It’s available in my 2024 library and seems to work perfectly.
Here it is in 2024 with the GNS530.
The only problem is Just Flight have not made a 2024 specific installer. To fly it now in 24 you’d have to either buy it for 2020 and copy/paste into the 24 community folder or buy it through the 2020 marketplace and access it through 24’s library.
Either way, you’d still have to have 2020 installed now to do this.
The 414 Cardinal is my other favourite twin…
I don’t have 2020 installed anymore, just 2024. When I just installed both the piston, and turbine versions I wasn’t even asked for the location of my MSFS2024 folder, and it installed correctly.
The Turbine Islander looks amazing! It’s definitely on my ‘wish list’ due to STOL, cargo capacity and its abilities to ‘Island Hop’ and its iconic British design and looks. Just a few questions if you don’t mind?
You’ve produced a MSFS 2024 version of the aircraft but the one on the MSFS 2024 Marketplace appears to be the 2020 version, as it is marked as ‘compatible’ with 2024 but not a specific 2024 aircraft. Will the 2024 version be added to the store?
The price on the store in UK currency is £35.74 but on your own shop (once converted from Euros) is £25.09 - that’s a pretty massive difference!
I’m happy to support your store but I have some credit on the marketplace that I wanted to use. Is there any reason for such a disparity in price?
Thank-you, looking forward to owning the plane!
Wha!? So you managed to install them directly? Impressed.
I wish I could get my TBM850 to do this…
Yeah, I was expecting what I got from an SWS installed, where it states it cannot find the folder, but gives the option to point to it. 2024 didn’t even exist when those planes were last updated.
Well I don’t have 2020. I would assume that buying and downloading the duke bundle online from just flight would provide me with a zip file that I can then extract to the 2024 community folder. Or is that a false assumption?
Just would like to point out on simMarket has the turbine and piston for $25 each if you buy them together on one order, so $20 less than the bundle on Just Flight. It’s been a while but I’m pretty sure it still used the Just Flight installer.
Not the case right now.
Ah, may be a regional thing, still seeing it here, though actually $54 for the two compared to $70 at Just Flight.
No, it’s not as simple as that. They use an installer.
I’ll be pleased to be told I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure you can’t simply install jnto 2024 yet.
