New 'DLSS 4' (v310.1) is amazing in VR

He’s talking about OpenXR Toolkit.

So I’ve done two flights, one yesterday and one today, both in the Fenix (in 2020). I’ve confirmed preset J is loaded via that overlay.

I’m still getting quite heavy blurring on the displays, most easily seen on the ALT band on the PFD during climb/descnt. It might be a bit better, but it’s not really “fixed”. And other things seem more…I don’t know, more ghosting than before, or rather oversharpened or something.

I’m a bit dissapointed :frowning:

On my rtx 3070 the 571.96 does not fix the performance loss caused by dlss 4 and preset J. I still have a loss of 20% head room compared to using cnn.

The clarity of cockpit since I preset ‘J’ is the best I have had - this is also true of clarity of aircraft and ground staff at airports.
However, my FPS is poor.

The new driver won’t allow me to start and I get CTD on the start up. I turned back to my last driver from December but can’t improve my FPS.

Where my FPS drops the most is when zooming into any map on the EFB in the PMDG 737 - I then have to switch SSW ‘on’

Ok, I just found out a key factor that needs to be considered and which explains why some people are seeing ghosting and others not. I currently have HAGS off so I cannot try with frame generation, but even without here’s the thing:

Usually I have V-Sync on and set to 50% of monitor refresh rate. When I have this on, the ghosting is quite heavy. That is 30 fps in my case.

When I switch to 100% or even turn off, I get around 73 fps. In that case ghosting is almost vanished.

So the FPS are a crucial factor here. Unfortunately this makes it quite hard to use it in VR.

Thanks much no VR here but find the lighting over blown and washed out

Nvidia filters dont help much and reshade is a bit better but you loose about 8fps

Try and delete anything DLSSTWEAKS related, including dxgi.dll, from your MSFS folder (the one where your executable is).
It worked for me, no more CTDs and the new driver rocks.

571.96 is working with SU1BETA..
My problem was that I forgot to delete all the dlss tweaks related files. In my case dxgi.dll.
Once that the “cuda” driver no longer conflicts with 2024.
Didn’t notice any performance gain… Need to keep testing.

Have just realized that.

Same here. Clarity improvement is impressive, but ghosting is worse, and lost about 10% fps. Hoping the official nvidia driver that will come on Jan 30 will improve the ghosting and fps.

Its still better. The shimmering and artifacts in propellers were what bothered me the most in VR.

That’s the word. Official update will actually improve FPS

Yeah let me remove the links. So strange, chrome thinks it is virus with rar file, Malwarebytes found nothing, rar or exe. It was a fix for new driver, 3 lines of code change by Moose, approved by Orbmu2k (NvidiaInspector guy) .Thanks

There is definitely still a lot of ghosting on the glass panels, yes. But I mostly fly gliders, helicopters and bush planes, close to the ground, very visual, so I don’t look much at my instruments so I don’t care about the ghosting there, it doesn’t bother me.

Tried DLSS4 in VR (PMDG 737-800, MSFS 2020, Q3, 4080S, DLSS Quality option) and maybe displays are not that blurry as in previous versions, but because of ghosting effect it’s a no-go for me.

Ok I will try that this morning. I am not on FS2024 as I only use 2020

I get this message when trying to delete

I noticed that this is insatalled in the Systen32 folder also

So I now have the new driver installed and NVIDIA app isnt working

I also logged onto 2020 and my FPS with or without SSW is 6-9FPS

Quality of the cockpit however is unreal

having deleted all of DLSS tweaks from my fS2020 folder, it appears to be geeting signifcantlky worse. I hope Thiursdays offical release will yiled an imrovement

OK you have to be careful installing the interim driver, if you don’t do it correctly then you can get issues, which seems to be the case.

What I would do is use DDU and completely wipeout your nvidia driver installation and reinstall the latest official one afterwards.

That should get you back up and running.
