Socket AM4 is at the end of it’s lifecycle, so the 5800X3D will be the last release for AM4. Intel LGA1700 is also likely near the end of life, although Raptor Lake is rumored to get a refresh in Q3 2023, so there may be one last release for LGA1700. As long as you don’t care about easy future upgrades, both are good options.
I would say if you want the best possible performance from MSFS, go with the 5800X3D. This is still better than the 13900K by a wide margin. Just realize if you want to upgrade from the 5800X3D, you will need a new motherboard and DDR5.
Not really coz 300 is gone with the base game and all world updates installed, then Windows and a few other apps / drivers etc. Then a safety margin of empty space for Windows to operate plus Pagefile. Leaves “not a lot”.
I admit I’m in the minority of the quantity of mods I have though but that point was linked to my first post in this topic
I said depends if you’re planning on adding a lot of stuff.
I’d rather have it all in 1 place given the choice as constant moving of files is only going to use up precious write cycles too.
Ah well … that’s different, I have Windows, MSFS and my solitary page file all on C: … D: is only for Community and Official and even then I don’t have all the World Updates installed.
Rarely used but I have two spare HDDs in raid or rather one HDD and a partiton on the other HDD. I keep my Music on the remaining space of the larger drive… I was surprised I could do this but it works.
MSFS gives zero respite for your system’s power usage so I suggest you go for at least a 950-1000w PSU. Too much overhead is far better than too little and whoever knows what your next upgrade will be?
I meant can enough NVME m.2 SSD’s be fitted inside a systems to be raided? Long time since I built a PC so no idea how many “solid state card slots” you (can) get!
They can but you would need a high end chipset for 2x PCIe4. All current B550/B560 boards with two M.2 slots restrict you to one 4.0 and one 3.0 so raided would only be PCIe3
