New TV for Xbox Series X MSFS2020

Interesting, in the film world, cinema is often shot at 24 fps; Uk tv use 25 fps to match the refresh rate of our electricity supply; USA use 30fps to match theirs. A few films are experimenting with 60fps - Gemini man, for one - to add more realism (allegedly). Didn’t know the Xbox was capped at 30 fps, seems smooth enough to me, even when quick turn left/right in the cockpit.
With a camera, the bit rate should go up by a factor of 4 to transmit the extra 4K data, maybe not everyone does this…this translates to the cpu usage which gets hotter a lot quicker. Storage, memory, is reduced by a factor of 4 (fancy algorithms reduce this impact ).
Regardless, everything new for several years now, I would assume, is very capable of carrying 4K….tv and camera manufacturers are no doubt focussing on 6K and 8K…..and beyond.

Curious now, is there a visible impact on screen in the sim when changing from 30fps to 60fps?

60 fps can be seen in films apparently (The Hobbit had a lot of complaints); I assume at cinema as I can’t see it on my tv.

I didn’t scroll through this whole topic, but keep in mind that HDR ( or Dolby Vision for that matter) is making a lot more impact on image quality then the number of pixels (1080p vs 4K). My advice: avoid the (ultra) cheap tv models. Often they are labelled with the HDR tag, but in reality they actually really aren’t.

If you can, save some extra for a proper tv: Buy LG OLED55CS6LA 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR OLED TV with Google Assistant & Amazon Alexa | Currys

I know it’s a big difference compared to what you have in mind but i really pays off on the long term. Is your tv primarily for MSFS, or other purposes as well such as streaming movies and series etc?

Personally, i have really good experiences with LG Oled’s. My 65" LG CX is still doing great after 3 years, and my next one definately will be LG Oled again.

Biggest difference I noticed was in my ability to read the gauges and panels in the planes. Such an improvement with a 4K tv. Resolution is pixel density, which translates to image sharpness and detail.

That said, you’re still going to be limited by the Xbox’s ability to render graphics and terrain in a high level of detail. That much does not change.

Well worth it.

Popped to Curry’s and Argos today to have a look at some TVs. Spent a little more (£100) than I’d hoped and got this one:

Apparently the best bang for the buck, and I know Samsung have a good reputation. But before I open it… what do you guys think?

Thanks.

The TV you selected should go great with your Series X! I use a Samsung TV myself for MSFS and love it!

Looks good, congratulations.
As a rule of thumb, I always check the following forum before getting a new TV. Lots of useful feedback from actual users:

I highly suggest a 120 hz + VRR monitor on Series X. There are also HDMI 2.0 with these features ( not 4k ). The game runs 60 fps in non-complex scenarios while of course tanking in heavy performance ones. But it is way better if you compared it with a 60hz monitor and you will have benefits in many games, not only MFS. VRR technology is pretty common nowdays and on Xbox is a game changer. If you ask me, it is better to buy a 1440p monitor with VRR + 120hz than a 4K 60hz.
