ā– ā– ā– ā– , now can’t find the file. I did however find numerous third party waterfalls in this link. It may help you. I dot easily get discouraged, so I’ll keep looking and keep you posted!

Honestly I expect more than just a visual and animation upgrade for it to be done right.

With the tech available now, there’s no reason the water should be anything less than literally a body of fully accurately modelled real water flowing over the falls, carrying you with it if you decide to play Captain Hook and take a header in any of the aircraft. Spraying and deforming naturally if you decide to run straight at the falls and skip off the crest at the last moment. Leaving wakes behind you as you cruise across a lake that upsets local boats and takes a good several minutes to reach equilibrium again.

All that tech exists. They are already running a global mass airflow simulation here, when it’s working. They are already working on moving ahead with Ray Tracing, tracing the actual path of the light in these scenes which already look incredible (though what Ray Tracing will potentially add to night flying for example, could this ever be incredible…).

My point is I see no reason why the water, and therefore waterfalls or any natural obstacle the water navigates through, needs to be any kind of visual trick, custom animation, or hack.

Just make Water. You have the tech to do it live within a certain range and precision, which can be tuned as needed like any other setting.

Just partner with somebody if you need to though I think you’re so close anyway, and make it Water!

I don’t have the same liberty to add new technologies that a game dev does. The tools are fairly limited and everyone is still learning. I’m doing the best I can to make this look good, but don’t expect me to turn a flight simulator into a niagara falls simulator.

See if they just model the interactivity of water on surfaces, it will just flow over the falls on its own. Won’t behave Exactly but very close.

At that point if you’ve mapped the geography roughly correct, the water will just flow and crash around it as you’d expect.

Just like how stalls and spins now happen roughly as expected because they happen Naturally, due to the air movement not because there’s some hard-coded complex table telling it to spin at a specific point.

I’ve been wishing for waterfalls (animated) since the Sims release.

They are adding new node fx particle system and ditching (the current one) from (fsx\p3d) will be on SDK, and they are adding FX on update on aircraft at least, probably more. They have a team for world 2.0 with tons of things, but are going with priority, they have the time, it’s long project, not singular release. I already sent them all waterfall from the world include top 100, these include all longitude\latitude.

I don’t mean Asobo doesn’t have time to work on the game, I mean they don’t have time to hand model every waterfall. However, as you say they are working on the tools that will allow the community to do so to a higher standard. I’m waiting for the new particle system so that I can model the spray from the waterfalls.

I wanted to ask you if you know of any tutorial that explains how to teleport me to a particular area like this to be able to edit an area without having to go with a plane to an airport, and if it can be done, I would also like to know how to edit a bad area made by the program … do you have any suggestions?
