No need for those pesky VR controllers

I don’t believe you can activate the menu items with the mouse, though—change weather, interact with ATC, open checklists, etc.

Well there is not only YOU.

I was waiting for this since the beginning already. You don’t have to use them. Stick with your HOTAS leave full immersive VR to others who actually wanted and requested that feature.

It appears that with LOCK mode both is working. Controllers and mouse.

I can. Both with controllers and with the mouse. You have to do two things. 1

  1. switch to LOCK mode if youre using LEGACY
  2. reset mouse profile.

Really? I will try again tonight then. I did reset my profile to default but whilst the mouse works in game menus and moves around inn the cockpit the toolbar menu buttons don’t work for me, so I can’t bring up an in game panels. I started with legacy and then changed to the other system yesterday and couldn’t get them to work, but will try again tonight.

I just tried lock mode and that is still causing me issues but it does allow VR controllers to work.

Also realised that with VR controllers they have mapped things I wouldn’t expect like rudder to a controller joystick - which then interferes with the rudder pedals.

A lot of these issues are just settings - doesn’t help Asobo reset a load of them in the update!

Of course not, why do you think i wrote “FOR ME”? Of course other people have different opinions. But i can only talk for myself and not for others. And as you can see there are a lot of other people who think the way i do. The point, and i have to give that to you, was that both ways are broken and i should have made that more clear.

I have to try it myself, Kjaye. I just heard it from a Youtuber, but forgot his name.

Yea by default the right controller thumbstick controls the rudder. If you own hardware pedals its probably best to delete the rudder assignment for the right VR controller.

Its not really broken, its just the fact that they again resetting all the settings and messing up your profile. You will have to take time an assign everything again to your needs. Its like that after every bigger update. Nothing was working for me after last big patch too and i needed to redo all assignements and configurations. Same here. Out of the box nothing was working. No surprise as it has even resetted assistance options and all the controls assignments of course too.

It’s an absolute joke at this stage.

I agree, this is clearly what should happen, both mouse and VR controllers so everybody’s happy. Personally, I hate the mouse with passion, but current VR controller implementation is crippled too. People are different. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. But at the moment neither one is working correctly LOL!

Oh, no-no-no. We were asking for a proper working VR Controller support, so we can kiss the mouse goodbye, not a crippled mess that was rolled out. If it was anything like X-Plane, FS2, VTOL VR have - it would be a god-send. What we got is unusable: menu not clickable, knobs can’t be rotated with any kind of precision, trim wheel jumps so much it’s a disaster, no proper haptic feedback, can’t operate switches behind the yoke, even the multi-engine levers can only be manipulated one at a time - how stupid is that??? This is not what we asked for, at all. A tiny X-Plane team could do it right in 2017, I don’t see why Asobo can’t do it right in 2021 after 1 year of rolling out VR support, with all the resources they have. It’s mind-boggling.

And for all of you mouse lovers - we have no reason to quarrel. BOTH should be working independently of each other. Everyone should be able to pick what he likes most. By the same logic you can scream “No need for these pesky VR support! Who needs VR? It just ruined the pancake sim for us!” - because the latest update also tanked the FPS for pancake guys and brought all those bugs for them too. It’s not the VR, and it’s not the controllers. It’s the poorly planned and executed VR code, and a total lack of QA (or disregard for the known bugs) that could have surfaced all those issues in an hour. In all fairness they should have halted the release until the bugs are fixed. But they needed to roll out for Chrismas season, and that was more important than a working sim.

If you think vr controllers are useful then dont use them. For some people vr controller support is important. I hate the way the mouse moves in 3d space and vr controllers is what i needed to navigate the toolbar and cockpit controls. It is not useless.

The only thing making it useless right now is the toolbar not working.

Que quieres decir se molestó? A mi directamente hago click y no funciona

The problem is that it would be fine to add VR controllers, but without destroying an otherwise working mouse/keyboard interaction. Currently the whole VR control with mouse/keyboard is TOTALLY F**CKED up!
Trying to reset everything to default for controllers mouse and keyboard does not solve the problem and also destroys all the keybinds I got used to.
I enjoy flying in MSFS a lot, but these updates have shown that MS/Asobo have a lot to learn about quality control before rolling out updates. I had expected more.

By your logic, we don’t need VR Controller support because it destroyed the barely adequate performance , pushing FPS down. And we don’t need the stinking new weather implementation because it broke everything else!

It’s not the controllers, it’s the overall “alpha” feel of the SU7. Correctly coded controllers would not have affected anything, just like correct weather, correct mouse, correct everything… Don’t blame the cotnrollers, blame the QA or whatever pushed the release too early…

At the moment I don’t need the mouse, the VR controller or the MSFS at all. Too many issues and construction sites in the sim. Most of all, the CTD annoys me. Boot up the plane from Cold and Dark, programmed MCDU for half an hour, start, activate VR, at some point deactivate VR to look at charts … Peng … CTD.
At the moment I prefer to fly X-Plane.
