Topics like this make sense and are very helpful. For example, the Nvidia application has a huge impact on the performance of MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, as well as causing CTDs. This isn’t mentioned in the Nvidia changelog — we discovered it and know which files need to be removed, something Nvidia doesn’t mention.
So, I repeat, topics like this are valuable and very helpful. If you don’t like these topics, feel free to ignore.
If you use a displayport connection to your monitor DO NOT UPDATE to this driver. It claims to fix the black screen problem, but on my PC it creates the problem. All you get on boot is an unresponsive black screen. Unplugging my displayport monitor saw my PC finally boot using my 2nd monitor which is HDMI. After boot, I plugged in my displayport monitor and the black screen returned. Normality returned after I rebooted with the displayport monitor disconnected.
The final fix is to uninstall driver 572.60 using DDU then reinstall any driver except 572.60.
Try hotfix 572.65
This hotfix addresses the following issue:
- PC may boot to a black screen when connected via DisplayPort with certain monitors
Thanks for the update. 572.16 works just fine after I reinstalled, and I don’t want to risk introducing another problem with a hotfix driver.
All good here with driver 572.60.
572.65 fixed my black screen after nvidia driver installation.
I’ve been using 562.36 till today.
Thanks Nvidia.
I use a display port connection and didn’t have any black screen problem. As TenPatrol posted, it just happens with certain monitors and they already released an hotfix for that (which I didn’t need).
Same, this is a known issue for a lot of people.
I’ve seen loads of threads on people getting black screen.
I have to force power off my pc when this happens.
Spoiler alert, the performance differences come from the game patches where FPS fluctuates massively with each patch
Thank u! I solved all the problems with 566.36.
rtx 4080 super 64gb ram
I’ve noticed that as well and it’s also happening with the stable build and even FS2020 but not as bad. With DLSS set to Auto and FG turned on my FPS fluctuates between 95 and 115 in FS2024 mainly while taking off from airports. And the denser the airport the worse it is?
Is that what you are seeing? Also it doesn’t matter what Nvidia driver I am using or my FS2024 settings.
I have the same gpu and that’s the best driver for the 40 series imo.
also in my opinion, I did some research and discovered that this driver is optimized for the 4000 series
All driver updates (including this one) since 566.36 use approximately 1gb more in VRAM which is not viable for my 4070 8gb.
why are these drivers using so much more compared to 566?
Since 572.60 driver installation there are occasional screen black outs for a few seconds. Sometimes DCS does not react anymore after screen black out.
have you tried 566.14?
Still no joy getting 2020 to work with any driver after 572.16. CTD a bit past 50% loading. I’ve tried all the solutions from multiple threads(other than a complete reinstall).
Try.
Uninstall Nvidia driver using the DDU program in Windows Safe Mode.

After installing the NVIDIA studio driver 572.60 the occasional screen black outs are gone, at least I didn’t notice any more black outs since.
A new stable version of the Nvidia driver is now available - 572.70.
Feel free to share your feedback in the linked discussion thread.
Well you never know. This driver could add regressions to the other cards which is why these posts exist…user feedback is nice to have. Lately I’m always seeing driver complaints on the Nvidia forum.
