Got sidetracked so I walked away and had to regain my positioning near the end, at the very end I got cocky, look a bridge… I bet I can fly underneath that…

Who will be using MSFS2020 for this event tonight?

I believe most players would fly the FS24 expecially after the release of SU3 & City Update 12: Germany. Its also possible to have soem on the FS2020.

Thanks for the reply

Awesome flight today! Really nice to explore the updated scenery.

Decided to take the FW190 out for this, seemed to suit the flight well.

Forza Motorsport x Flight Simulator crossover when??

It’s really too bad the model matching is awful at its job. I believe the TBM was an A6M Zero, as was the Citation in the next shot. Would’ve made for a cool shot if the model matching picked some default warbirds at least…

Very enjoyable flight, with some great detail in the new imagery when you get up close and personal. Will go back low ‘n slow later for a better look. Managed to get a 2020 lineup at EDDC before people started evaporating.

Was a nice fly in, but had severe performance problems in VR when there were a lot of planes around. Drop of around 20-30 fps when the group was in sight. Was able to reduce it to a drop of “only” 10fps when setting the quantity of traffic aircraft to “low”.

It sais “godlike” on the VD setting here, but had it on DLSS balanced, which was roughly the same performance as my later setting of “ultra” with TAA 100 and Foveated rendering enabled.

Still got a drop of almost 50% on the final airport when everyone was meeting up in character. But had the character settings on “high” there still. So would have to probably reduce that to at least “medium”.

If I looked at an area with no players, my fps were at my usual ~90fps (45 reprojected).

Also had lots of blurry areal imagry, as they loaded in way too slow. If I flew a couple of circles around a point they catched up in quality eventually.

after 1-2 circles around:

So, was more tweaking things this flight than actually enjoing it.

Having been in the SU2 and SU3 Betas, it was really nice flying with the big crowd again. Unfortunately, I forgot to prepare my settings in advance for the event. I usually fly without photogrammetry, but did today because of the city update, and I failed to anticipate the crowd size. Both things combined were just too demanding, and I had to fiddle with settings along the way.

Since I live in northern Germany, I took a little detour on the way to Bremen and enjoyed the rare opportunity of taking a distant glimpse at my home city of Hamburg during a Community Flight. It’s right under the clouds in the distance, at the Elbe river:

At last, a properly large crowd again:

A longer detour on the way to Leipzig led me over the Harz mountains. Here over Torfhaus with a view towards the Brocken summit:

Hat tip to the Eurofighter Typhoon crowd who bathed the departure airport in delicious acoustics. (I don’t have a good pic though.)

And I applaud these guys for bringing something with more style than the Typhoon has thrust:

For those with FPS issues in multiplayer, next time try turning off wake turbulence in the assistance settings. I also experienced massive FPS issues and that was what fixed it.

Initially, I had no issues in the flight because I started the fly-in late. But then I caught up to the group right over the first city and my FPS tanked (like going from 120fps average to about 18 fps average). I thought it was an issue with the new city update so I disabled photogrammetry; still terrible FPS. I saw someone say something about wake turbulence in the chat, so I disabled it and it instantly fixed the problem. Turned wake turbulence back on, instant drop to sub-20 frames. Wake off, frames fixed.

Just a thought for next community flight! I’ve had wake turbulence enabled for a very long time all through the beta and never had issues, including in previous community flights (although there’s usually only like 5 or 6 of us nearby in the beta on community flights). This time, with 20+ aircraft in the release build, it seems to have been a massive performance drop.

I still hope that Clouds improve, or some Developer or company, releases a convincing Cloud package, I miss FEX…

I actually had wake turbulence on in the beginning, was the first thing I disabled. Not sure how much difference it made, though. In the end I had to set traffic aircraft to low to at least get playable fps. If I set it to off, there were no other planes at all anymore.

As usual a fun community flight! Enjoyed the city update.
