Please, no shamanic tricks that change driver or system settings that could potentially cause errors for inexperienced users!!
This is absolutely and 100% a game engine error and cannot be resolved anywhere else.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes.
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Loading in default airports (LIPZ, LHPB, EDDM, any other middle/big airport) i have 5-15fps on the ground. And 80-90 fps above 500-1000ft after airborn. Same on landing.
Main problem: Limited by RDRThread
Issue with me from SU2beta 14.18
In that time i solved it rollback to SU1 release. All was smooth in SU1, EGGL with FenixA320 65-70 fps on the ground.
But then Microsoft bring SU2 to release, and SU3 beta.
Now i have no version with smooth performance on the ground.
If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
• LIPZ performance right now:
Specs:
i7-14700
RTX4080S 16GB
DDR5 64GB 6400MHz
Same here, performance in normal conditions is perfect, reaching even 50 fps or more in jets and complex airports.
But, since SU2 beta, stutters are horrible even at the most remote airport. SU1 was perfect, it started happening some weeks ago.
Have a ryzen 5, 32gb RAM, 3060 graphics card.
I’m seeing this, too.
I’m getting it with GA at rural and semi-rural auto-gen municipal airports.
I’ll see an occasional stutter while taxiing, smooth and amazing when airborne in the pattern and back to occasional stutters on short, short final, landing, rollout, and/or taxiing — all at the same airport. Again, flying the pattern.
That’s very interesting! I always thought SU2 hammered the mainthread on landings, but you’re saying it’s the RDRThread which could be the bottleneck.
Is this the issue you are talking of? I made a video.
Excuse the flying as I was focusing on the debug FPS thing to see what was happening.
I am on beta 3 and am experiencing it with a 13900k/4090/64 gigs of ram. One stutter was so long on takeoff, I thought the sim was frozen and was going to CTD but it eventually picked back up. Seeing stutters taking off and landing. Seemed to start near end of SU2 beta for me.
Looking at Statistics Profiler, there are a ton of errors (duplicate objects, etc.) at many airports, with examples like those below (EDIT: at katl). Might some of these, or all of them cumulatively, cause some of the airport performance issues?
Last LOD shouldn’t have too many textures:
You have too many draw calls for this minsize:
I too have this issue running ryzen 9 9950x3d with rtx 4090 started in the late betas for su2 always on landing what I’ve noticed is that some of the textures seem to glitch its so strange but apparently bug has been logged so hopefully fixed soon. Was gonna try su3 to see if had been fixed but doesn’t seem so.
Exactly.
But your video show no the worst scenario.
On 2:20 - your RDR THread go to violet, then somehow release.
In my case, it release from violet 1/10 times.
OK I think the title of this thread is a bit misleading, for me anyway, it is not that the performance is bad at airports, it is fine when I load in there, or am taxiing around, or even after have landed, it is just this last few feet of the runway when it goes bad.
Sorry for terrible microphone audio.
Can anyone else reproduce this?
I’ve found out that reducing Shadow maps helped, also disabling foveated rendering, both settings make it worse when enabled for me in VR.
I’m seeing this too. I thought I was mainthread-limited on landings, but it turns out I’m being limited by RDRThread.
Here’s some screenshots from a flight I just completed in SU3 v1.5.3.0. On descent, the sim is mainthread-limited:
On the ILS approach, I’m still mainthread-limited:
But just before touchdown, I’m RDRThread limited:
I’ve been doing some more tests. OLOD high/low doesn’t seem to matter (at least not with my hardware). I’m using a TLOD of 50 - still I get stutters on landings (FPS drops 15-20 even at small default airports).
7950X3D, 4090, 64GB
But I’ve had some success setting building quality to low. I mentioned this also in this thread (SU2):
Yeh the stutters started in SU2 .14 for which everyone reported. Issue remained in .16 then .18 and finally .20(RC) they still persist in SU3 however I have noticed in .3 they are not quite as bad or abrupt as they were.
I get micro stutters flying in a small default GA aircraft around airports (both default and third party) and the stutters increase in severity for the more advanced planes and scenery which in most cases ends in a CTD.
I’m on Xbox series X, 128gb rolling cache,
Multiplayer - Off
Photogrammetry - On
Live weather - On
Live traffic - Off.
When SU3 first dropped, I downloaded everything and had to put up with long splash screen before sim starts loading and seemed to get more CTD’s with everything installed. I have since uninstalled everything and gone back to streaming, seems to be better performance for me streaming over downloaded but ultimately still consistently get stutters and CTD’s.
I do have to add when I did have everything downloaded, the LOD and draw distance seemed to be improved but also brought back the dreaded black avionics rather quickly, this doesn’t seem to happen when I’m streaming (at least as severe and quickly).
basically can’t use FS2024, since it is impossible to land at any airport or airfield.
Re-Bar on or of, displacement mapping on or off, settings low or ultra.
C172 (downloaded) at generic EDDH.
o mesmo acontece comigo, aeroportos de terceiros travando a cada 15 segundos, usando avioes B738 MAX, inibuilds A320, A330.
Unfortunately, this only works at smaller airports. At handcrafted airports (EHRD, EHAM), FPS drops from 55 to 25 during landing. That’s with TLOD 50 and OLOD 200.
This is from a landing at EHRD:
I was able to eliminate the landing stutters at EHRD with a TLOD of 10 (!) and buildings set to low. OLOD at 10 vs 200 provided the same result.
I then did some circuits at the handcrafted airport of ENLK. I ran several tests with different TLODs, keeping OLOD at 200 and buildings at low.
TLOD 50 - bad stutters:
TLOD 25 - no stutters:
I repeated TLOD 25 to be sure - same result, no stutters. Unfortunately, everything looks extremely bad with this setting - in particular, the runway is a blurry mess.
