After I eventually got the sim to load I re-tested with this: ground_high_speed_steeringwheel_static_friction_scalar = 10.0 ; 1.0 ground_high_speed_otherwheel_static_friction_scalar = 10.0 ; 1.0 This was what I had set before re-launching the sim. I saw no effect until I completely restarted the sim. I can now steer into the wind, even when at 15-20kts ground speed, which was impossible before.
