PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

I don’t recall PMDG ever saying that but this month the -900 was supposed to be released, so I’m speculating the EFB comes with it. The last words about the EFB were that second half of September it should go to beta test.

Every few weeks the a/c starts having various failures even tho I have failures disabled. Loading various panel states doesn’t fix the problem. The only fix I’ve found is to delete the a/c and re-install it which is a pain. Anyone found a better way?

All failures are off including service-based? If all failures are off including service based that would be strange.

Have you tried just going into the maintenance menu and fixing the failures?

Thank you for your reply. Yes in answer to both your questions. I have gone completely thru the FMC and fixed each issue (if I load a different cockpit state it will show a different fault) but as soon as I leave the FMC the fault returns. To make matters worse, to uninstall the a/c I delete it using Windows Control Panel but must also go thru each item in the address, i.e. User/Local/Packages/Microsoftefsqex8eqry)…whatever it is/ Community, etc and delete any reference to PMDG 737. If i do not, when I return to the Sim the faults will still be there.
Big pain. Wish I could solve it. The 737 is the only a/c I fly anymore.

Have you discussed this on PMDG’s forums?
You may get more input there!

Man, I wish. Sometime ago, somehow, my PMDG password got corrupted. I have emailed the forum Administer several times asking to reset my password but they don’t bother to answer me. I’m not very impressed with that. Since I can’t sign in I can’t enter topics or reply to other’s posts.
Aggravating.

Given the cost of the sim, asking for a few fluff items like sliding windows and a cockpit door that opens really isn’t asking for much.

I remember in FSX, they said they decided against the open window because FSX had a limited number of animations allowed and they had exhausted all, and had to choose the most important ones, so the window didn’t make the cut. So I was hoping they’d include that in MSFS since there is, or, should be more “space”.

The buzzer is a gear-up warning, comes on after F10

You can ask anything you want, even flight attendants bringing you coffee during cruise. I just can live without sliding windows, that’s all I was saying.

Anyone else having issues with the instrumentation in the cockpit? The MCP numbers tend to blur when I’m rapidly changing speed, alt, heading. Same for the digital altitude display. Never had this problem pre-SU10, not sure if it’s on me since I also downloaded the latest nvidea driver or it’s something more systemic? Also, for some weird reason, as a flight progresses, I have less and less control with the mouse. Starts becoming difficult to zoom in via the mousewheel, I tend to overshoot when panning, etc. This is also post SU10.

Are you using DLSS? Display blurriness and lagging is a known issue with DLSS.

PMDG lead guy RR finallyt back after being off the grid for most of a month. Posted a pretty comprehensive update over on their forum. Sounds like we have a maintenance update coming in the next few days. With regard to the EFB that they indicated should have been out a few weeks ago, he devoted two paragraphs to discussing it without providing any real information on it’s status. Amazing, this guy should be a politician! Head over to their site to read the full update.

Thanks very much. I am and I kinda assumed that might have something to do with it. Are you aware of any fixes? If not, I’ll probably revert to my older pre-SU10 graphics settings. To be honest, I really don’t see a massive increase in visual quality / framerates with the much-hyped DLSS. i7-10K processor, 16 gig RAM, 3060Ti.

DLSS seems to have this problem in all MSFS aircraft. AFAIK, MSFS uses DLSS version 2.0. There is an improved version 3.0 coming from NVidia, but only for the new 4000 series GPUs.

If you have a reasonably high end CPU and GPU, DLSS probably doesn’t offer much improvement in performance, with the disadvantage of potential blurriness.

It’s almost like the tech industry has a habit of overpromising when it comes to artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The biggest benefit of DLSS as it exists today for 20- and 30-series GPUs is reduced load and lower temps. If those don’t matter to you, use TAA instead.

Yeah, those things definitely matter but not at the expense of where I’m currently at. I guess I’ll revert back and hope that at some point, someone provides a driver or patch that will help in my case.

The blurry glass instruments should be addressed in an upcoming SU. As far as I’m aware, you won’t need DLSS 3 to fix this issue.

Yeah, I’m a little bit disappointed with this update from PMDG after a longer time of silence. So many words and so little information. The only thing I decoded from this message is that everything is behind the schedule.
