PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

Now the 737 MAX please to complete the fleet!

And in the meantime I will also try the Captain Sim 757 767 freighter in P3D, because this 3D-testmodel-demo of what Captain Sim can offer on their own platform for cargo pilots also has fully convinced me!

The details are great… and the cabin is getting better and better.

The cockpit feels immediately at home.

Flying empty and N2 over the limit to really see what she can do.

That´s a long barrel! Reminds me of the CRJ1000 which looks similar over-the-top elongated:

I will wait patiently for the freighter version, this plane is awesome! And I don´t understand why so many don´t like the 737-600 it is so cute and refreshing flying that cute little plane that offers all the good things in the cockpit the bigger 737 also do

There is not a freighter version of the 737-900.

Winglfex sucks so bad.

No, now the 777 please. 737 Max can wait till even after 747.

Yup we need a modern PMDG level Long hauler so very, very badly. The A310 is one, but it is all but out of service. In a way and not being ungrateful, but I wish they did the A300-600 instead, freighter ops would be more realistic.

I think they still fly out of KMEM - FedEx and EGNX - DHL I think anyway

They do. You can watch them on ADS-B. There are about a dozen A300 models flying over the US for both FedEx and UPS, and a couple flying for DHL over Europe right now.

No -900 freighter… ever?

I was hoping for 25 tons of cargo, and a brandnew fire extinguishing system. But I was also hoping that Fenix upgrades their Airbus with an A321 freighter with IAE engines while announcing their new Fenix ProSim-based 737 Max project, while PMDG releases the 777 on christmas 2022 - shortly after posting two dozen screenshots of their almost finished Queen of the Skies v4.0…

But the cute 737-600 has also no cargo version and is also a great plane, so whatever
There is still some room for advancement in some areas, for example there is no N1 fan in the hangar:

…and the windows have this angular shape in the middle of all window frames, making the fuselage more round with higher polygon count would help:

But the overall 3D modelling progress of this airplane is marvelous, when flying around in areas where no drone ever has explored before for example the gear well and the cargo rooms look way more detailed now with good textures:

The animated rotating cardan shaft that drives the wing gearboxes for the flaps is also still there, and the manual explicit tells of glowing brakes and that´s why the wheels sometimes have a yellow-orange shine after landing.
I have never ever managed to make the brakes of any of my 737 actually glow, but if this feature is really implemented … awesome!

This PMDG 737 series is an absolute fantastic fleet, and the cockpit customization is lovely!
Only the Take Command! IXEG Boeing 737-300 Classic with EIS1, and the PMDG Boeing 737-10 MAX is missing to make the series 100% complete :ok_hand:

Thankyou! Great to hear you’re finding it useful and enjoying the checklists! :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

Guys - quick question here: what setting do you choose in the FMC in order to get rid of the “default staircase” that comes with the 737? I usually use GSX Pro and then those stairs always get in the way.
How to disable pretty please?

Just get rid of them via FMC → Menu → FS Actions → Ground Services → page 2/4 (from my memory, as I am airborne now and I can’t get into this submenu) → Switch to jetway. The stairs will go away and then save the panel state via FMC → Menu → PMDG Setup ( I use a name “coldandsexy”) and then just select it as Startup state. And from that point the stairs will always be gone when you start your flight.

I’m just doing my maiden flight in the UAL -900 from KORD to KEWR and unfortunately the ground handling has not been fixed yet (at least not for me). From their forums I understood that the ball is on Asobo’s side now because for some reason PMDG had removed their own ground handling code and they rely on Asobo’s system. That means we might get it sorted with the SU12 which is next month…

What a beaut, anyway

Hey there, @nikthetrip5023. I know it’s been a while since you asked, but be sure to set your cruise and landing altitudes on the OVHD panel during your preflight. This sets the parameters for the Pressurization system to maintain the correct pressure altitude and pressure differential in the cabin. Hope this helps.

My first flight with the -900 went well, except that I didn’t set the fuel display to kg, loaded 9000 lbs instead of 9000 kg (calculated by Simbrief) and I ignored the insufficient fuel amount warning at my departure airport KORD. Then mid-flight I had to use an invisible Stratotanker to make it to my destination KEWR  Lesson learned, now is my -900 set to kg.

I said I wouldn’t fly this till the weekend but hogwarts can wait lol…

I am doing what I believe is a real flight KLAX to KSLC Delta 900ER. Although I never use default airports I am making an exception this time and hopefully I’ll make more and stop buying airports lol

But I just very nearly made that same mistake. For sake of realism I don’t change us carriers to KG I just convert and add a little extra.

Such a beautiful plane. I wish we had more in Europe.

For sure other Devs need to up their game and get out more models… Yes I’m looking at you Fenix. I don’t mean that as a put down, but a Fenix level or FBW level A321 or A319 is needed too, not a FBW lfr model hack job.

But the 900 what a machine!!!

I’m doing my first test in the 900ER from STL to DCA now. Works great!

Well, I wanted to do just that one flight today but I couldn’t resist and now setting a flight KSEA - KLAX with Alaska Airlines -900ER

“Stop buying airport” sounds like an impossible thing to do. Especially when PacSim are bringing the KSLC airport this year. I was in the area 20 years ago, flying from NYC and there was a nice steep descent after passing the rockies and landing from the north. Enjoy

This is the first one I haven’t gone for on release. And I won’t be, I just can’t justify it. It’s not even that it’s not a reasonable (ish) price. It just doesn’t offer anything different to the -8, for me. I shall be passing.

First flight -900 flight for me tonight after work. Well, the -900ER. I flew a short one that I’m familiar with because I had a heck of an afternoon and my brain isn’t up to anything particularly stressful. I flew KLAX to KLAS n Delta livery. Since GSX doesn’t (yet) grok this model and I’m not going to a bunch of customizing myself, I simply used PMDG’s pushback and skipped my usual GSX boarding/loading process. I also used FS Traffic.

Took off from 24L at KLAX, climbed up to FL300 for all of about 30 miles, then descended into LAS to land on 26L. There was a 6 knot tailwind at touchdown, so 222fpm in the touchdown zone for my first flight with this one was fine with me!

Lots of traffic over and around Las Vegas, too. I got a TCAS warning flying my downwind, which was amusing (not!). Plenty of planes landing, taking off and taxiing around the airport. Maybe too many - my framerates dropped into the upper teens as I was taxiing before settling back to low 20’s once parked. When I told FS Traffic to remove all of it, my frames jumped back up to the low-mid 40’s.
