Ok, thought you are talking about current issues. By the way, parking brake is required to run pushback script from FMC menu.
Did I miss something? When did the parking brake get broken? I’ve never had any issues, aside from having to ride the brakes a bit during pushback (and I think that’s a problem with Tool Bar Pushback, not the sim itself).
On another note, looks like another week has passed without a substantive update for the sim. Oh well, maybe next week.
SU11 back in early Jan or so messed it up. Was fixed in a patch prior to SU12 sometime in Feb I believe.
I thought the parking brake was only broken during the beta cycle. If you waited until the actual update was GA they pushed out a 737 update the same day to fix whatever changed in the background?
Parking brake works fine for me. No problems.
Yes, parking brake was broken only when SU11 was in beta. When SU11 was released, PMDG gave us an update that fixed it.
So once again… the parking brake works fine for everybody now. But it wasn’t working in the SU11 beta and PMDG fixed it with a patch released straight after the SU11 official release. So who didn’t participate in the beta he missed this problem.
I’m can’t say I’m sure why people would be surprised that platform updates break things, and if you’re on the beta of the platform you experience issues. We go through this all the time in X-Plane. It gets fixed on GA. If you’re not interested in helping discover these things beta track is not where you want to be.
Exactly. That’s why I never anticipate in these SU betas.
My overall point was, and even more pointer now that it’s been confirmed it was an issue in the SU11 Beta (couldn’t remember), was the absolute meltdown that occurred on here because of that…in a beta. Even then there was a workaround that still gave the same function. But because it wasn’t THE parking brake that could be used all manner of nastiness ensued. People are heated on here about a week and a half or two week delay over a virtual EFB.
Meanwhile I’m stuck going on 2 weeks into a supposed 8 week wait to get a document authenticated and until that happens I can’t move forward with my career plans/future. The job that I have holding for me may or may not be there if it takes the full 8 weeks and it’s a dream job I have waited over 15 months to get back to after COVID screwed everything up. 2 weeks or even 2 more weeks will not destroy your lives. But outside of FS something like that could. Just like my situation. And there’s nothing I can do just like there’s nothing you can do here about PMDG’s development timeline. Just giving you all some perspective on here between the real world versus a hobby based issue.
Some great news on all fronts
Reading through everything rather quickly while focusing on the Universal Flight Tablet it looks like it won’t come out for another minimum 2 months or so from my calculation. Under a month would have me shocked. 2 months seems reasonable and over that seems most realistic. If an aircraft takes a year or more I would expect an involved feature like this to take 6 months. Sounds about right since they’re balancing multiple things at once. If it was just one thing at a time those figures would be halved. They’re probably also pairing initial functionality with what has already been developed for the 777 as well. So it’s not just the 737 involved or I would see things coming out sooner as well.
Side tracking the topic! Can I make a request to any livery painters out there???
Can someone paint this up…. It’s a projected P-8 for the RCAF.

Go to flightsim.to and make a request
Great news and good to hear that the EFB and SimBrief will be seamless too. Unfortunately, working full time plus weekends and with a three year old boy, I don’t have the time to learn how to manually input flights into the FMC. That’s why I’ve not flown the ATR yet…
Does real FMC have ability to import flight plan from a data cartridge or similar? I know fighter jets can load mission data from a cartridge but could not find anything about airliners.
Airliners often can get the flightplan trough ACARS i guess or have the company routes already stored in the software.
But this depends on the airline / plane aswell. Not every aircraft/airline does this or has the systems to do it. Some do it manually. For example, they get it printed out in the briefing or on the tablet or the in-aircraft printer.
Even in the current state, you dont have to do it manually. You can import it via SimBrief.
But, the PMDG and ATR are not (yet) directly connected to SimBrief, means, you need the SimBrief-Downloader and it will store it automatically in the correct folder for your planes and then you can just load in in the FMC. Very effortless.
But yes, much better to download it directly trough the FMC, as the FENIX A320 does.
Sorry, I should have said, I’m a console user.
I actually don’t mind entering the flight plan manually, it adds to the immersion and in North American it seems most flights plans are shorter than European ones.
