Yep, this coincides with my feeling that SU 16 is more of a marketing measure than a progressive update.

Even if this makes me unpopular with some people here, I would be willing to pay a monthly fee for higher-resolution satellite data, as long as the price remains reasonable. Server capacities simply cost a lot of money. Therefore, I can well imagine that a simulator that costs around 100 euros once would hardly pay off economically in the long term.

The problem is that why should they offer that? We dont know the majority of the stats. Like how many are on gamepass, how many people start the sim fly for 5 mins then go to COD or another game, etc. Us here in the forums, reddit, and other Flight sim forums could either be the majority or could be a speck of dust in there data. There is no way to tell other than their actions, and right now their actions are even hard to tell what their aiming for.

Sounds reasonable … but I payed for a product, that after SU16 isnt existing anymore.
This in mind, no more money will go into MSFS … be it 2020, 2024, 2028, whatever. I am able to learn

I could be wrong but I think this community is a good representation of all users. I started with FS98 and being a part of the online community is part of the hobby. But times change and maybe most players nowadays don’t think of it as a hobby, especially since it’s on Xbox now. So who knows.
Yup, we just dont know their data and wont. They get the telemetrics of who starts the game on all platforms, when they close it. How often they fly, etc. They probably even get to see what mode theyre on (free flight, missions, etc). Probably even get to see when someone uses the screenshot feature for console and pc.
One thing is for sure they spend a lot more time on console optimization and adding things like POI. So in that view surely does look like the people who start the game fly for 5 to 10 mins to go look at the grand canyon and get bored and goes to another game is overpowering, but thats looking at it in that sense not the full picture that we dont see

The longer I think about it, the more certain I am that decisions made in SU 16 have at least partly to do with Microsoft servers. The significantly shorter LOD distance should also reduce the load on the servers, as much less scenery needs to be preloaded. I think that the short LOD distance, combined with the lower resolution of the satellite data, should save a HUGE amount of data.
But I agree with the previous comments that these are not the only two problems with SU 16. For me, however, they are the two biggest ones.

So after the latest update 2020 scenery has become just as bad as 2024.
Why Asobo and Microsoft, Why???
If you want to shut down FS, you might as well do it right away. This is just pointless.

Maybe because we told them clearly that FS2024 with the full streaming idea is simply a failure, but they don’t seem to want to admit it!
Even though some players can use it, most of the rest have major issues that make it virtually unusable.

Do others have the scenery pop in problem+ Trees and buildings re-rendering etc when getting closer?

Now I understand that displacement mapping, flowers, rocks, etc in 2024 are basically to cover up its lower resolution terrain

Su16 final release work fine for me , dont have CTD ,lag, i have small stutters when landing . The scenery in distance look bad but overhaul is good . Yes final release is stable now !

great! What we all feared and threads was started to stop actually did happen!
The sharp and clear textures in the distance on 2020 is now gone. Wow!
have not tried 2020 since the new update and seems there is no point in even starting it now.
they had a great game before 2024, I was obsessed with it. All that went away when 2024 came out in a big pile of bugs and the vacuum that was created from that still exists today.
I play 2024 and its playable now ( It wasnt on cloud until a few months ago) and looks good and all ( but cant buy anything over console now) but the magic is lost somewhere.
And even more so now that we cant even go back to the feeling and looks of 2020.
sad… really really sad…

here is flying PHX to LAS @ FL280 @ LOD 200 on each setting, ultra, dx12, FG and TAA
you can clearly see where it goes to blurry, even then it still isnt crisp and clear before that LOD redcution line. Its almost like LOD is layered, you have LOD of clear and crips (miscolored terrain), then it almost goes to less clear and crisp, then it goes to almost a generic terrain with blurriness.
here is a canyon im flying over that isnt the grand canyon
its just terrible, almost like they took away terrain vectors and topography

Well I had to start the game and try this new update for myself and flew the updated cowan r22 ( really really good in 2020 now!) in rio and manhattan and they are both fine!
Not as good sharpness and draw distance as before but good performance. Strange though how dark the windshield is in the r22 now…
then flew new york with a 1st party plane and its ok.
Then I tried my goto ”bad” photogrametry city, Rouen, in France.
And its good! In a 1st party plane it looks great, 4/5 I would say, in a 3rd party chopper its much better then its been before, 3/5 and very much nothing to complain about!
BUT I do t know if this change, and this is a BIG change, came now in this update!
This city was a melted building catastrophe in the wrong 3rd party aircraft before!
but shouldnt the game have updated bing stuff now outside of photogrametry?! Still green roads outside rouen…
Overall the feeling of the game has changed, lightning?! Idk.
my verdict: idk! They have 2024 to experiment with so dont know it this was necessary.
But glad bad PG city looks ok now.
