[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) Sim Update 16 Feedback

Yeah that isn’t anything that happens in MSFS

From Cairo to Athens

I had two quite satisfying flights this afternoon … EDDl - EGPH and KSEA - KSFO … no stutters, no CTD, no blurriness … hmmm … did Asobo correct things, or have I been just lucky today

We definitely have some restoration going on. I didn’t have this definition at Hurghada, Egypt when I was last there about a week ago! This is good news indeed. Probably linked to SU4 as we share the same map data…

Mhh, Can you try to go there with 320 ini v2 and see if there is the same result ? (Or any other wasm aircraft)

Strange I’ve yet to see any improvement in terrain color. LOD seems better in descent and landing but still bad after taking off.

Flying around Australia … it’s as ugly as the day of the SU16 release. Colours are so off, it’s not funny. Everything is red and yellow and brown, even on the tropical coast. It’s like there’s been a 20-year drought and then someone upped the saturation slider.

Plus, the vegetation autogen colour doesn’t match the underlying imagery in many areas. Like it’s been colour-matched to the pre-SU16 aerials. Just like the autogen buildings that don’t match their aerial footprint. Seriously sloppy, unless they just didn’t care.

Yeah, that’s pretty bad. I haven’t seen anything like that anywhere on my system. Someone on one of these threads, Maybe here, said they noticed a big Improvement all of a sudden today but I don’t see that anything installed when I launched the simup today. In any case I guess I’m one of the lucky ones as I’ve had no issues that I can see and I’m running 1440p on a 32” monitor.

Fully agree with Australian scenery hassles. My addon airports are awful - all gone generic and lifeless.

Although the resolution still isn’t great, I’m getting better ground details than I was 24 hours ago…

Approaching Sharm, Egypt, Pune, India. Both of these I picked as areas not given world update treatment so in effect as raw as it comes. Personally, its a better experience now than 24 hours ago…

In general, fs20 literally started to give the exact fs24 vibes, as the color space and vegetation look slightly fabricated and cartoonish, not good for fs20. I’m afraid fs20 was defo made look like fs24 in the end. I’m sure the developers are not happy with the result of fs24 looks either but unfortunately fs20 has gotten its share, too.

After two months I ask, when is the rendering pop in problem going to be fixed? When can we wait devs to answer us?

Maybe because scenery is straemed? And they are messing with scenery on the server side?

I haven’t had any glaring scenery issues either except, of course, Niagara Falls.

There are several reasons. FS2024 has been a priority, there is no question about that.

Not everyone is having popin issues.

Asobo will get around to fixing 2020 bugs. If I recall correctly Jorg said they would put more focus on 2020 the beginning of 2026.

Personally I am happy with both 2020 and 2024.

Do you really have no popin with photogrammetry enabled around Salt Lake City for example? Seedy shared his own video of SLC without popin some time ago. However, the TLOD was set to 400. This should be an unrealistically high value for detailed third-party sceneries. With TLOD 200, you can see the popin very clearly since Sim Update 16. And you can see it just as strongly in MSFS 2024 in photogrammetry regions.

You may have forgotten, but I was involved in that discussion with Seedy and others when he posted his findings. I did see a few popins but nothing as bad as what others were reporting in that area. My TLOD is 200.
