[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Marketplace Feedback

While flying on PlayStation I just pressed the screenshot button like I would on Xbox. I’ve got the PlayStation app on my phone and I can see my screenshots on there and download them to my phone and then share them to lovely places such as this! I’ve got an app on my phone for this forum as well so it’s pretty simple honestly.

I completely agree 100% as I mentioned in my rant above in quite bothered by this! After preordering the Aviator edition we don’t get anything cool for a pre-order bonus for this game itself which is kinda annoying! I primarily play on Xbox and all of my previous purchases are on Xbox as well so I’ve been waiting for it to show up on there so I can fly it with my friends and with all the other 3rd party add-ons I’ve purchased. I really only got the game on PlayStation to play with in VR once they’ve got it working correctly.

Well, glad to hear that PS5 users got the T-38. Really frustrated it’s not still available yet for those of us who’ve supported the sim since (the year) 2020 to buy yet. Offering it to us for money doesn’t devalue it for the PlayStation crowd who got it as a preorder bonus in any way.

Today on the Marketplace, I saw an MS scenery bundle with over 75 reviews, all rated five stars (!). How is this possible given this developer’s track record? Can Microsoft/Asobo please remove this developer from the Marketplace for deliberately misleading customers with fake reviews? msfs-2024

I’m highly suspicious of those ratings too. Ultimately, there’s no way for us to determine if ratings are bought or faked though. Theoretically, Microsoft should have controls in place to check that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that wasn’t the case.

How would that be verified short of auditing the bank accounts or email inboxes of those making the reviews?

Absolutely is faked, and MScenery continue to do it on a large majority of their aircraft

I think more often than not it comes down to the simple adage: One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

For those that don’t know the difference, these aircraft present a tremendous value. Those that do know the difference generally know enough to stay away from them.

Yeah, but even a complete noob would have to agree that this is not a 5-star.

Just go to YouTube and watch a video. See how the cockpit looks.

Even to the naked eye this is much worse than default aircraft.

So even if you really enjoy the simplicity of moving around your favourite bird for small money, this wouldn’t get 4-stars.

And keep in mind, that those new joiners and casual players are usually not taking the time to rate their purchase they grabbed for small money.

And here we have a 100% rate of 5-stars.

This is obviously rigged in some way - maybe through give-away copies in return.

Then again it is just stupid, to do 5-star.

Having a solid 4,x % would be much more credible and attract more people than such an obviously fake rating.

I can’t say I agree - and you’re assuming people who enjoy these aircraft even look in the cockpit.

Either way, there’s not really a way to prove the kinds of things being alleged here. Best bet for everyone is to continue to seek multiple reviews of products before purchasing, and for those of us that already know better, simply filter them out for good. I haven’t seen an MScenery, CaptainSim, LVFR, etc. product in months.

I think these aircraft of, what is it, $ 14,95, are perfect for third person flying. Why need a cockpit, when someone can fly and enjoy the view.

Either pay people to rate it or they do it themselves. Its suspicious that numerous planes they made have 5 star ratings.

My thoughts exactly!

Regarding the rating system, a user is only allowed to rate content that they have purchased. We have no way to determine whether a purchaser is a true simmer or manipulating the system at this time.

With SU4, the following changes were made:

  1. Creator filters persist between Marketplace sessions
  2. Default sorting of content in the catalog was renamed from “Recommended” to “Default” and uses the Wilson score, which factors in the number/distribution of ratings in addition to the absolute/average rating value.

We have passed on the sentiment regarding and potential or percevied rating manipulation, thank you!

Thanks Jummivana, however it still does not demonstrate who exactly is rating these aircraft or any other purchase.
While it is often said that “one mans rubbish is gold to another” it still does not protect new simmers from expensive mistakes.

Another of the reasons I was given for the MScenery planes to exist in MP was that at least parents could afford to buy their children an airliner.

I get this and I get the reasons why some wish to purchase these. However, I and many others do not feel they should be rated as a 5 when PMDG or A2A get a similar rating. It certainly is not fair on the Devs who are diligent and produce excellence.

Please could the team discuss a fairer way of representing that hard work.

I agree. I think it’s problematic that these products can land in naive newcomers’ hands, due to manipulated ratings. The fact that Microsoft doesn’t seem to care is disappointing. Yes, you and I can filter these developers so we don’t see them, but that doesn’t help those that don’t know better. It’s a shame that developers like MScenery can continue to prey on innocent users and flood the marketplace with junk, impacting genuine developers in the process.

Yes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, but only to an extent. MScenery continues to cross that line. The fact that Microsoft has no way of verifying review legitimacy is ridiculous.

Isn’t this a conflict of interests? MS draws 30% from the MP price for the service, if I remember correctly. Why constrain a river of income for which they don’t need to to hardly anything? I think they’re perfectly fine with a 5 star plane for less than 15 bucks. If it sells 10.000, do the math.

In the world of profit, ethics becomes a bendable concept. I don’t think there’s a way around that.

You’re 100% correct. It’s entirely profit-driven and I don’t think that’s some big secret. It’s just disappointing is all. Microsoft can rake in the dough and not have a care in the world about people spending money on a junk product. That’s just the state of the gaming world today. Microsoft could easily implement a way to verify review legitimacy. But why do that if it hurts the bottom line? The handful of us complainers on the forum will continue to seethe but why would they care.

It’s everywhere on the internet that this company sells low quality products. It’s no secret at all. The people who solely base their conclusions on an amount of stars, aren’t they also part of the problem? That is, if there’s even a problem at all.
You know, a Market Place is a free environment where someone can sell, let’s say: Nonsense with an extension cord. As long as people buy this product, this guy will come back to the market. But as soon as some people bust this bubble, and others are willing to put in some energy to read around, his business will stop soon.
This is how a free market is defined. It’s up to us to develop a grown up relation with it, not daddy Microsoft. Agree?

My hunch is that these products have a place in the simming universe, namely that of people who only care about the outside of the plane, with which they want to fly third person over the world, and in the clouds. Almost every single you tube video on aircraft show the plane in third person 90% of the time, because there’s where the magic of a plane’s relation to the earth, and the skies take place. A video only showing the cockpit would get clicked away within minutes.

So it might be that we are drawing our conclusions too hastily here.

Cheers!
