[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 3 Feedback

While many issues can be very individual and not under control of Asobo or MS, there are plenty issues that are definitely caused by the Developers and I am not about regular bugs - every Software has that. I am talking about obvious regressions and mistakes, some even pointed out during beta but they still decided to release it.

So while not everything that is blamed on Asobo and MS is actually their fault, quite a lot of things ARE their fault. And its more than appropriate for users to point that out.

After all we are paying customers that still wait to get what they paid for and what they were promised.

I’m not sure if anyone has noticed this before, but the entire prob with the stuttering and FPS drops after the SU3 comes from fiddling with various components inside the sim, like menus, settings, and the top toolbar.

For ex, when I enter the cockpit, if I even slightly touch the toolbar or adjust the side stick sensitivity or anything else, I immediately start experiencing stutter. It might be minor stutter, but if I don’t touch anything and go straight to flying, I don’t get any FPS drops or stutter at all.

In short, do all your settings before entering the cockpit, and once you’re inside, don’t change any settings at all. Also, set the weather to live beforehand so you don’t have to change it inside the sim.

Another thing is that some keys you usually bind on the keyboard from 1 to 0 for different parts of the cockpit and aircraft body—if you’re not very used to them, it’s better not to use them because they cause stuttering for me, and they might do the same for you.

These are the things I’ve experienced, and not doing them has really helped a lot.

It’s certainly plausible. There’s currently an ongoing investigation of a recent Windows Update causing NVMe’s to completely disappear from systems. Lot’s of tech YouTuber’s have content up showing what’s going on, and I’m not sure if the issue has even been fixed yet.

Yeah, but that is a global issue and not limited to a single app.

If everything works fine, your system passes every stresstest and have no issue with any other game then it is safe to say that MSFS2024 is the culprit and not the OS.

Update 3 for me..

Takes 5 to 6 mins to load and then sometimes crash.

VR has went back to FSX. What worked before not working now

Aircraft not loading correctly

Load aircraft in Europe then loads at LAX. ( Anywhere I didn’t choose )

Click on buttons and they don’t work.

If our systems were the culprit we wouldn’t have this conversation anyways. We’d be too busy trying to get our PC’s to boot up :joy:

I feel that the ball is largely in your court on this and not Asobo’s

A post was merged into an existing topic: Ground Textures Crazy Distortion Spikes and Colors

The sim still struggles with loading in runway textures on approach - just had a landing at KPIT from KJFK in the Fenix 320 end in a crash when my nosewheel gear hit a curb running perpendicular to/across the runway as a result of the runway texture not having fully loaded in yet. A disappointing end to an otherwise decent flight, unfortunately.

In VR? Check your Displacement Mapping switch in both the 2D and VR side anyway. Make them both the same. Hopefully that will ā€œfixā€ it!

This actually sounds more like a terrain mean issue. If it was texture related, not being fully loaded would just mean it’s blurry but still smooth. There are occasional issues where the mesh tiles are misaligned for whatever reason, which creates curbs, ruts, and other issues. The only fix to this is to manually adjust the terrain features.

KDFW had a very similar issue and it took ages for them to finally get around to fixing it.

So after I crashed it respawned right in front of the curb which then flattened out in front of my eyes as everything loaded in - the bump is not there as long as everything has adequately loaded.

Is there anybody who knows for sure whether are those tiles loaded from local files or streamed by servers?

No, I don’t use VR. Normal screen.

It’s been a work in progress since msfs5.1. 30 years I guess??

Check it anyway.

Update 3 MSFS 2024 VR

The approach / landing stutters that made SU3 beta completely unusable really seem to have crept back in for me these past few days. Managed to achieve about 5fps on landing into cologne on the XSX.

Can I ask whether the airport you flew into was-

  1. Streamed, stored locally on main SSD or peripheral USB SSD but linked into community?
  2. Whether this was the first time you had visited this airport
  3. What your broadband speed is

I’ve seen a lot of this, but I’m not seeing it now on local assets or assets I’ve now moved off my USB and stored directly in community.

For streamed airports there are some enahnced ones that are not optimised and does this every time for me. They are also not donwloadable as they are in base sim. LEBB springs to mind. I did note that there were lots of default enhanced airports with their LOD’s having been modified by Gaya updated in SU3. I shoudl also note that it’s usually streamed/enhanced airports that are doing this. One work around it is to go pay your arrival airport a visit (start on the runway), and just leave it for a minute to all load in to cache. It will then be fine when you fly in to land there later. It’s not ideal to ahve to do this, bu tit works. Lots of default non enhanced airports are fine though and don’t show this late runway texture load in.

This was a default autogen airport (KPIT) so it was streamed (as there’s no way to download autogen airports in advance of which I’m aware) and I had not visited it recently (likely last time I did was prior to resetting rolling cache at some point). Typical speeds are between 100-150Mbps - I’ll get higher than that outside the sim but looking at the FPS display that’s about the max I usually get from the MS CDNs.
