On SU6, using FSR4 upscaling and frame generation enabled through AMD Adrenaline (RX9070 GPU), I could get c.100FPS at any of my large airports. With Dynamic Settings enabled (always set at TLOD 400, OLOD 200) I would always get 120FPS, albeit the graphical quality of the terrain tiles were compromised.
Now it’s unplayable for me on SU7, c.70FPS at the sim handcrafted EHRD for example - a 50FPS drop! I use Tobii eyetracker and the head movement is an absolute stutterfest.
I’ve tried all the usual suspects, clean community folder, clean caches, DDU and reinstall of the Adrenaline driver, it makes no difference. I actually wondered if the FSR4 technologies were working properly. Toggling them on/off in Adrenaline makes no difference at all. The only difference in PC setup outside of MSFS is Windows 26H2.
I’m so tired of going through this continually, my enthusiasm has diminished to the point that I’ve stopped wasting my money on addons and I’m at the point of just walking away from it. I think the only reason I haven’t so far is the amount of money I’ve spent on those addons and hardware.
This is a Public Relations total fail/disaster. We were with them, along for the ride, and its been waning from their side for a while now and now is the time any media rep worth their salt would say (with some vigour I suspect) “do something, say something! Engage!”
Its beyond disheartening. They’ve lost my loyalty, I can say that much, and I say that having owned every iteration of the sim. Ah, sorry, just wanted to add my voice - I accept its hardly a post of merit, but its not as if I, we, can fix any of this, is it?
70fps is not a stutterfest, and should have no effect on an eyetracker. The only time I notice it with my Tobii 5 is when it drops below 50, so if you are getting 70 you should be fine.
On my PC, with my peripherals and my settings, I have smooth visual performance at around 100-120 FPS (using FSR4 grame gen and upscaling on a 120Hz 4K TV). When it drops to the FPS I showed in the image (c.70FPS), it stutters significantly when I move my head using the Tobii, to a point that to me is unacceptable and so I don’t want to use the sim in this state, it’s not enjoyable for me. Others may consider this level of degradation acceptable, I don’t.
Do you not consider a c.50FPS drop a significant degradation of performance? I reiterate, I was happy with the sim performance a month ago. The only changes have been A windows update and SU7.
We hear you loud and clear with your feedback regarding the drag bug, alongside a number of other prevalent issues identified with SU7.
As most of you are already aware, these have all been logged now and the Development Team are working to resolve them. The drag bug has been resolved via the 1.9.20.0 build, which players can already opt into using easily via the public beta.
I’m unable to give an ETA as to when fixes will be available, however The Community Team have ensured to pass on all of your feedback regarding the impact upon gameplay with other issues such as the battery drain issue etc.
If we’re provided more information or communication from the Development Team that we’re able to share, we will do so at the earliest opportunity.
We read all of your feedback, and just because you do not see us replying to every comment, please do not assume that we are not hearing you!
What if I want to continue my Career Mode progress? Forcing people to use the beta is not OK. The drag bug should have been fixed days ago by releasing a hotfix for the stable version.
This is very good to hear, especially explicit mention of the major issues at play. It’s clear you understand the tenor and urgency of the user discussion here and are conveying that on our behalf. You CMs continue to do a bang-up job under difficult circumstances.
It seems to be policy to never pass ETAs on to you guys, which is disappointing. I understand why they do it - missing deadlines erodes trust, so you put yourself over a barrel if you don’t meet one - but on the flipside it builds accountability and good faith if you give good estimates and stick to them. It is what it is.
For my part, I really don’t feel like getting in the beta to access fixes. There’s always the chance that other bugs are introduced in flighting and I just don’t want to deal with that. Also, I don’t have the bandwidth to make bug reports or give feedback, which I like to do if I’m testing (even if we’re told it’s not strictly necessary). For now I will try to remain patient while await I fixed up stable build.
I am sure I am not alone in wishing to make it abundantly clear that we have empathy towards your position, and we understand how hard this must be for you - after all, you are the middle man, so to speak.
I’ve never seen any evidence that any of this consternation is aimed at you guys, though I am not intimating that you ever said or inferred that you thought it is/was.
I wanted to say that. Its an important thing to say. It must be hard for you guys to be on here, reading all of this, and, well, being stuck in the middle, so to speak.
I’ve only ever seen great respect from the community to you guys and I am proud of the community for not taking what I would othewise refer to as “cheap shots”.
I cannot speak for anyone other than myself but I can see the sentiment from my peers. And its an admirable one.
I agree that MSFS 2024 optimization leaves a lot to be desired. However, let’s please be objective.
Your hardware isn’t suitable for getting the most out of MSFS 2024 at 4K or 1440p. You have to artificially boost performance using technologies like Frame Generation, which can introduce stuttering. Your VRAM is also almost fully occupied, and that could be another contributing factor.
Lower your graphics settings, disable static aircraft and fauna, and turn off grass as well. I can see that you fly airliners, so remember that at real-world international and regional airports, grass is kept short.
I think you’re missing the point of my post. Forget the specific numbers and look at the relative performance. With the exact same settings, I was perfectly happy a month ago, my hardware and settings gave me performance I was happy with. Now those same settings don’t work for me. The only differences being SU7 and Windows 26H2.
And the two turbulence threads are still “only” feedback logged.
I’m thinking this might take quite a while to sort out. Please pass along to the development team the request for an option to revert back to SU6, thank you.
I doubt their deployment infrastructure and Xbox’s update ingest/verification system allow optional down patching (or likely any down patching). We’ll just have to wait, unfortunately.
I’m sure it’s not easy, but it seems like there was a longer than usual deployment time for SU7, so SU7 and SU6 local installations and online services co-existed for something like 24h. That might be an indicator that it is technically possible, at least on the back-end.
You can also choose to run the most recent beta, so the option for choosing what version you want is already there.
This is all speculation off course, but it doesn’t seem technically impossible to begin allowing customers to run the previous SU.
The alternative could be waiting weeks or months, for all of SU7’s main problems to be solved
