Big Bend National Park.
This is a terrific park to fly around in WU22! I’ve posted a series of screenshots, here, here, here, here and here, so I won’t duplicate them in this post.
The improved DEM in this park really is noticable, with excellent cliff faces, escarpments, and scree slopes. In areas like this with few trees to hide the terrain, high-res DEM makes a huge difference.
There are two well-modelled POIs (Panther Junction Visitor Center and Chicos Mountain Lodge. There is a variety of cacti around these areas too.
As with most of the other parks I’ve visited so far, color-matching of the terrain can be poor. For example, this is by the border post and Visitor center at the Rio Grande entrance to the park (29.1727° N 102.9248° W):
To my eyes, the park area (to the right) is too pink-ish.
Some DEM areas cause problems with the avatar. This is atop Panther Peak (29.2983° N 103.2392° W):
(Note, not related to WU22, but the Jobi seems to have a “follow-me” command embeded in it. Here, it auto-took-off after I had moved away from it - Eeeeekkk!
Finally, a slight typo in the text on the welcome mat to the Panther Junction Visitor Center:
Overall, though, flying around this park is great fun. There are panoramic vistas at every turn, and hiking opportunities galore for your avatar.
On my personal SmotheryVase scale, I’m giving this park a 8/10. The park gets dinged a couple of points because of the color mismatch of the terrain and no seasonal changes, but gets a higher rating than the Carlsbad Caverns & Wind Cave National Parks (both 6/10) as it has two well-modelled POIs and excellent DEM.
