Why though? When they integrate this there’s going to be trolling and rules broken so they need to have a report button and moderators for it to work. Also everyone is going to have other preferences about realism. With Discord you can just pick any server that fits your preference.
Maybe they figured out it will cost too much money and effort when most people will turn the feature off anyway because of trolls and broken realism.
Since this has been praised as the next gen sim i was expecting something more mordern as in some games nowadays. To able to set up a group or lets say a squad with friends.
So you could use ingame comms where you have a local channel (certrain radius around you) and a team or squad channel (your friends) and a global channel for everyone (unicom). Being able to mute each of those 3 channels and players individualy without the need for an admin etc. I dont think this would harm anyone but it would add a new dimension, built into the sim without having to rely on a third party solution. Heck why not using voice or text based on the COM Frequency you tune in.
If voice would be to hard on serverload or for whatever reason then at least a text chat form. So some who just start with Flight Sim’s could ask for advise via unicom text chat. You could help out eachother, make friends and the multiplayer would start to make more sense.
Lets be honest, the multiplayer we have so far is more or less the same as in MSFS2004 16 Years ago! You fire up the sim, see all those players and have no means of communicating with them. Whats the point of Multiplayer than? I might as well just use the stupid AI Traffic.
You maybe misunderstood - I mean ATC controlled by AI. Like the one we already have. I just want to hear what ATC tells others pilots on the same frequency and also what they “say”. But at some point you are still right - It still need “training”, on the other hand I think they are already a lot of players/pilots out there to create some kind of realism.
Yep, I think a lot of people would love to see this.
The amount of immersion added would be significant - I think being able to actually use the frequencies would be a fairly significant technical investment, and require some thoughtful design to minimize trolls, but overall a really cool idea.
A good ‘halfway’ point would be offering some additional communication capabilities like simple messaging, and maybe just plain jane group audio chat for now. Not exactly realistic, but perhaps a useful stop-gap, to what is otherwise a fairly painful multiplayer experience.
Seeing all thoose “friends” flying around you and not beeing able to contact them either by text or via radio (121.5 for example) is just, poor design and frustrating, this post needs upvoting.
Further so i would like to see some Multiplayer options under settings, for example:
Set Multiplayer radius to “XXX” Nm
Show Multiplayers on map “ON/OFF”
etc, etc
For now I’ve been using VATSIM for this purpose so if you haven’t got into that I suggest giving it a shot. It works really well (except for a FPS drop that hopefully Microsoft will fix soon).
Would be nice but right now I don’t think it’s in the game. Would be annoying right now though tbh. The game has appealed to a wider audience and has had a lot of press so we see people that usually don’t play FLight sim. That said, imagine being at Kennedy right now with 50 planes on a server and listening to all those people, some who don’t know what they’re doing, on a couple frequencies. Or have some kids just yelling random stuff to ruin it for everyone. I think that’s the problem.
Hmm, not for me. I’m using vPilot and I can tune the radios in FS and I mapped a PTT button on my yoke and I can do audio voice communications just like I’m in a real aircraft as far as I can tell.
That´s not even the main Issue with it. Not only do i not hear, ore “see” the communication of other players, but also the atc dosn´t care about other player. They only “see” you and the autogeneric planes. They don´t respond to other people. So for instance, they cleare me for takeoff while another plane is casually rolling into position on the runway. Ore they let me land when someone is already there and stuff.
But to be fair, that is kinda a doubble edged sword…
