[RELEASED] Ford Trimotor 5AT | TukanFlightSim

I’d do the Marketplace. It provides a modicum of piracy deterrent since it’s encrypted and it’s just easier not to have to run/download other launchers.

Plus, personally, I don’t mind MS receiving money as the more they get, the more support Flight Simulator in general will get. If no one bought anything from the Marketplace, it probably would have already died.

Makes sense. My main gripe is that the minimum price in the marketplace is $4.99…meaning that developers can’t release anything for free (PMDG tried to do liveries), MS has to have their cut. It stinks of them trying to think of a way to monetize the amazing & generous community of FS freeware…but that’s off topic.

In any case I am VERY eagerly awaiting this Trimotor. Can’t wait to do Grand Canyon sightseeing flights

It’s been a good couple of days for those who enjoy classic aircraft, what with this and and the FSS 727 coming out of nowhere.

The downside of Marketplace is that the community can’t create enhancements for your plane, since all of the configuration files are encrypted. (Man, I wish MS would encrypt models to prevent piracy but allow plain-text config files. Sigh.)

On online retailers:

  1. Contrail – new to the biz but they have the best app from a user standpoint
  2. SimMarket – app purports to somehow protect publishers through its installer, though not sure how true that is, but might be worth talking to them as piracy is a big issue
  3. OrbX – decent app, amateurish retailing, slow with updates, but a chance to reach the audience who likes their scenery
  4. Just Flight – great for users who are afraid of installers. Currency coversion makes their prices high in the US
  5. IniBuilds – Okay installer, they get a lot of publicity from their MS collaborations
  6. Flightsim.com – I used to use them a lot in the FSX/P3D days, but they’ve fallen way behind technlogically and don’t get much in the way of new content
  7. Flightsim.to – huge traffic from the community, but some publishers left last year over their customer/publisher agreement revisions and their poor initial response to them.

If I had to pick one as a customer, it’d easily be Contrail, as it can handle putting updates in custom folders, which is awesome for us Addon Linker users.

My suggestion would probably be to release on Marketplace first and get that initial “new plane” customer rush and a modicum of IP protection, and then follow up 1-3 months later on the third-party sites to catch the users who refuse to use Marketplace due to the encryption issues.

The marketplace also includes more users with Xbox into a lesser extent cloud gamers.

As others have already commented before, any option that you find profitable seems fine to me.

As it seems that the feeds are similar between platforms, I guess the marketplace is the best option, as it will allow you to reach a wider audience.

Good luck with the release!

Starting to run out of days in June if that’s still a possibility…any news? Can’t wait to fly this beauty

Hi all.

Thanks for your patience.

I am currently talking to a couple of websites.

The final candidate build will be ready for their review this week. The date of release now depends on the websites processes

Can you share where it will be released?

I’m off work in 6 hours so if you can have it released by then, that’d be great! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Dang! I’ve watched that trailer 3 times now and I cannot wait to get your rendition of the Tri into my hangar!

Holy crap that cockpit looks amazing!

Great presentation!
Better than these tacky quick cut clips MS releases.
Can you share where this bird will be available, or is this Marketplace only?

With the current conversations it looks like it will be soon released in a couple of known websites, and later on the Marketplace.

Do you, (or anyone else) have any knowledge of real-world routes the Trimotor flew?

Some neat maps and advertisements out there

What are the navigation options here? Any GPS for modern flying or is this the historical implementation only?
