Save / Load a Flight (including Flight Plan) - MSFS Flight Planner (now EFB-) functionality

Yes, it works for MSFS2024. The YouTube video is showing FlightSave24 with MSFS2024.

Thank your for the confirmation, I will try it then.

The “.pln” file format functionality seems to be updated and is receiving updates (see release notes), but the flight session “.flt” functionality does not work, despite it still being in the menus.

sorry, but I do not understand this. How do you add the current flight plan to .FLT? You’re adding a .FLT to another .FLT?

What tool do you add to load and activate a .PLN?

If a flight had a flight plan, then saving a session - .flt, it would include this flight plan.
If I remember correctly, older versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator saved both a .flt and .pln, when saving.

Are you referencing the old .stn (Situation) files? If so, yes it would be great to have these back.

I really do miss not being able to save a flight at the end of a “session”. What I often used to do (and still do in 2020) is to save the aircraft destination position so that I could return to it at any time and start a flight from that location.

I cannot think why the Dev’s failed to copy this feature over into 2024, it’s so obvious, and all that is really required is a third option on the current options of
1 - Return to w.h.y
2 - Cancel
So just adding a 3rd option “Save Flight” would surely be easy to enough to add into 2024 giving us
1 - Return to w.h.y
2 - Save Flight
3 - Cancel

Pretty please ??

Nope, actually the .flt file, which is part of the SDK; it’s in the section flights and missions now but the request of this thread is mainly about the ability to save / load a flight in general.

A post was split to a new topic: Can you Upload a Flightplan from Xbox Cloud Storage into the EFB?

I mean , this is a fundamental feature for about every computer game.

Does this help? https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/dVUDd1AlP2E

That seems like a ‘decent’ workaround. Does it save the exact aircraft state, i.e. all controls, switches, etc. are in the same state? From the video it appeared he had to scramble a bit to recover the aircraft when he “respawned”.

Haven’t had chance to try yet

I have tried embedded FCR before going to experiment with it but great for replays never found it good for recovering flights will experiment further . I am currently using FS24 for best results . None PMDG planes like aerosoft Asobo default or inibuilds are a pain . Tip when get to ready to fly in the air hit the active pause on FS24 . Set your plane autopilot FMC . Inibuild does not let you import the flight plan in the air shame on you . So a complete reprogram from scratch . Set throttles and match speed you should be doing. Make sure if in VS it is the right way round . When happy release pause and hope the gods of flight sim are with you . If you are flying PMDG will just work no resetting quality work PMDG. Of course would it have not been great for Asobo to just include save and restore and it just works.

FCR embedded is not that good for saving the state of complex airliners. For example, the FBW A380 will not have it’s fuel, weight and balance data restored, and everything will remain as-is when you spawn from the runway. That also includes the landing gear and flaps. So yeah, I still want a save state feature.

Flight save 24 now seems to be saving but crashed on the ground not all the time but most any ideas .are Asobo actively and agreesevely trying to stop all attempts to save and restore. Replay not good as does not save state and fuel

Good news cured in the the latest beta go to the support forum . Well done rksoftware excellant product . Asobo could take lessons . Flightsave 24 great purchase .

With PMDG, you can at least save and load a panel state. Combine this with FCR for the best work around currently.
