Sayintentions AI ATC Master Thread

,

I think the delay bothers me the most. Makes it quite unrealistic, to be honest. The value just isn’t there for $30/month.

The only way you know is sign up, and try the free area no commitment. Discord is very active, and positive.
On a personal note very jelous its not active in Europe. I will give it a go at some point.

Haha, I just saw the price. $30 a month? Not in a million years. Probably cool for rich people and flight schools, but that’s about it.

I didn’t understand the cost or need for a subscription model until I read your post. And a couple more of your post. Thank you, very enlightening.

Interested, but defs gonna wait for some reviews and online content. The $295 is too much of a shocker to me, if I get it I’ll definitely go the monthly route…

I have been testing for some hours since open beta launch.

First off, the immersion of this is beyond anything. Talking to a ATC that have pretty much «real life» voices is insane, and the fact that its interactive. I can for example tell ATC random things like I rolled out of the runway and need emergeny vechles, and the ATC will respond to that request.

Its simply nothing like it.

I dont have a problem with the price, but its still a beta product and there are bugs and faults. Like wrong taxi instructions, wrong phrases, confirmation of correct readback when I with intension changed it to wrong. ++
But fair to say, it is beta.

I will likely not continue subscription in long run as of lack of support for IFR and traffic, and instead go for beyondatc. But if that support was added and bugs are fixed after beta, I would have no problem paying for this as even with it current faults it still awesome.

I’ve only done a few flights so far and there are some rough edges but development continues rapidly and cost may decrease in the long run. I am an ATC novice and far too intimidated for VATSIM or PilotEdge. This allows me to hone basic skills without pressure plus I get coverage where I actually want to fly in the US versus where a tower happens to be staffed.

When it’s wrong about something, is it consistently wrong, or are these rare occurrences?

For example, most controllers won’t let you proceed unless you give a fully correct readback of departure instructions. Will the AI tell you’ve left off something, repeat it, and then wait for you to give the correct response, or does it just move on to the next step?

These are the things that make an interactive ATC most valuable: not just having nice sounding voices with plausible phraseology, but that they’re actually holding you to the rules because they understand how the system works.

It depends, more right than wrong - but sometimes wrong. Im not a ATC phraseology expert either.

Its seem to check that your readback is somewhat correct, but you can easily readback 4000 feet when it gives you 5000 feet without being corrected. But you try to ask for runway 14 and its closed, it will decline. If the essence of the sentence is not correct it gives all the instructions again, it does not correct single details. This is weird as its based on GPT-4 they should be able to do this. Taxi instructions are often completely wrong or correct, Im not sure if they lack of taxiway data or what it is.

I view this tool as a valuable learning resource. While I don’t see it as the ultimate long-term solution for air traffic control, it can serve as a stepping stone toward transitioning to VatSim. Although the monthly subscription cost might be a bit high, I recommend utilizing it for three months to refine your skills. Afterward, consider moving on to VatSim, where you’ll engage with experienced individuals. Many of us have invested more than $60-$90 in aircraft and airports, so the cost, in my opinion, is reasonable.

It’s free in the KRNO and KTRK area’s. KRNO has very long runways so you can use commercial airlines in that area.

For a demonstration of the tool in action, check out this video by someone new to interacting with ATC:

Subscription is a no for me. I don’t get in the sim enough to justify the cost.
My real life gets in the way.
If it was a one time payment to own I would go for it.

Wow. Just did a short flight, and have to say I’m mad as heck. Mad that Microsoft is dishing out absolutely garbage ATC interaction when these developers have put together very realistic sounding and feeling ATC interaction with AI. Just the varied realistic voices are worth the price of admission.

Great way for me to work on my communication skills before going back to Pilotedge. Honestly, integrate this experience with some other traffic and I wouldn’t need Pilotedge anymore! Great work guys.

How is the delay? Excessive or not too bad?

I would also be concerned if I was sayintentions.ai that MS will do something similar natively in MSFS 2024.

EDIT: Watching the video the delay is quite long. He seems to think it will improve as the program matures, but I wouldn’t necessarily believe that to be the case if using a cloud hosted GPT4 service. I imagine they are at the mercy of the providers network.

Or MS could acquire sayintentions and make them rich and add native AI ATC and everyone will be happier (without having to pay $30/m).

The initial delay when tuning a new frequency is sometimes as much as 5 or 6 seconds. But once contact is established, there is no delay at all in my experience.

In the video above hes getting 10+ second delays on the same frequency.

Yeah all videos I’ve seen had a long delay. Granted I haven’t watched any lately as I’m not really interested in this product, at least not at the current price point. But the delay put me off. There were also quite a few mistakes that ATC made, especially when it comes to taxi instructions.

Delay is a no-go for me. I watched a lot of video, would be too frustrating for me. Hoping Beyond ATC with its full control of things will be better.

Yes there is a delay but didn’t bother me. I think if it is refined and starts to interact with AI aircraft it would be a game changer
