Sayintentions AI ATC Master Thread

,

They were clear on the live stream that GPT is only 50% of their costs and so now GPT have halved their price that would possibly translate to a 25% reduction to the users cost. Definitely not $15 pm!

Yes. The more someone uses it, they more they could pay. If I’m to use this app e.g. 2-3 times per month for half an hour each, potentially I shouldn’t be paying the same as someone who’s using it 200 hours per month. Simply because we’re not consuming the same resources.

not going to happen as long as every user needs a gpt account (as mentioned in the video)

Tried the demo and I like it, but not going to pay $30 a month for it. Waiting for the price drop.

Well, it’s a pass then until price drops to MUCH more reasonable levels.

ps: waiting for the next comment by a current or ex real-life pilot, that $30/m is nothing compared to the $100-$500/hour they used to pay when they are/were flying their C172.

At least the taxi problems will be fixed with a very smart idea.

OK, from a real world GA pilot :

(1) "$30/m is nothing compared to the $150-$250/hour I pay when flying a rental C172.

from a MSFS Sim Pilot

(2) "$30/m is nothing compared to the $1000’s I have spent for a gaming computer, other software & subscriptions & additional flying hardware .

from someone looking for entertainment

(3) "$30/m is nothing compared to the $100’s I spent a month on entertainment, phone, internet, electric and other expenses, to keep myself "entertained

(4) But I accept I cannot pay $12,000+ a month for a Multi-million dollar mansion to live in, so I am realistic and accept that I personally have to be content to live in a far more modest house ..

WE CANNOT ALWAYS HAVE “EVERYTHING” we may just “WANT”

But I am thankful that there are some pretty talented people out there who are prepared to put 1000’s of hours in FULL Time development of something to keep me entertained, that costs them $1000’s a month to purchase the computer services to make their app function.

Sounds like a GREAT DEAL to me .. :+1:

The price will decrease over time.

You can start or stop your membership anytime. If you are new to ATC phraseology, use SI.ai for a few months to get familiar with it. Afterward, you can move on to VatSIM to communicate with real people in real time. Even Brian from SI.ai has recommended this approach to learning ATC jargon. The developers are very transparent about their product and always willing to help. Exciting times ahead!

Would be cool to have an initial purchase cost of let’s say $30 and then a recurring monthly price for AI use, like $10.

I’ve just switched back to Pilot2ATC which is $60 for a lifetime purchase and that’s the end of it. $30/month is ridiculous no matter how you look at it.

Tough to argue with those that say $30/month is too expensive, only they know their financial situation.

However, just spent the last 30 minutes catching up on the BeyondATC thread. I think the phase “you get what you pay for” rings true.

To me, SI is worth it. It has transformed my enjoyment of MSFS (which was honestly getting stale for me) and looking forward to ongoing updates.

Thanks for all your work.

Way to early to say “you get what you pay for” in this stage. BATC or SayI isnt finished yet, and people are concluding.

SayI had many of the same issues BATC is facing just a few months ago. If they manage to get BATC more interactive it might not be worth the price jump. There is also a lot of features not ready yet which will have big impact of who is doing best, like traffic injection.

Very promising , I tried Beyond ATC , the voices are not as real as in Sayintentions AI

I am afraid at those prices it’s going to sink. $30 per month is ridiculous for a FS addon.

Agreed, pay as you go is far more appealing than a regular subscription for an irregular flyer such as myself.

For anyone who hasn’t used the free trial of SayIntentions yet make sure to give it a go. I’ve just had a fun day trying tubeliners and GA with this. I really like what they’ve done. Often it works surprisingly well, sometimes it gets stuff wrong, but obviously it’s a product still in early development.

Having a tour guide on a sightseeing flight was literally a game changer, made it so much more enjoyable, and gave reason to actually hunt out things to look at on the ground.

If there was more of a PAYG model I could definitely see myself flying with this sometimes, but with that monthly subscription and limited time to fly it’s going to have to get a bunch cheaper before I can use this again. If it does get financially viable I’ll definitely get on board as this is currently best in class.

The end of my last flight today

“Beef Island ground Fox 5 echo delta request taxi to general aviation parking, and
 actually
I fancy a burger. Wheres the best place to get a burger?”
“Fox 5 echo delta taxi to general aviation via alpha. For a good burger try the airport cafe near the terminal.”

Fox 5 echo delta parked.

Cafe found, burger ordered.

Can confirm it was good.

I actually gave the demo a try today. It’s certainly neat and novel and the interactions with ATC are by far the best among all the alternatives. For the most part it works as advertised, at least if you stick to your plan.

The delay got a lot better compared to some early videos I saw. However, it’s still very noticeable and bothersome. IRL I hear the controller almost before I even release the PTT on the yoke. It’s something I could live with but it gets annoying.

As a test I asked for a diversion to an airport 20mm away while on an IFR flight plan. It told me to contact the tower of that airport while I was still above 20,000ft and 20nm away. I asked multiple times if it could give me an approach or vector me but it insisted I contact the tower. I ended up vectoring myself.

Another test I did was an engine failure in a C172. That was actually kinda funny. It told me I was cleared to land at a nearby airport and I responded that I will have to make a forced landing in a field. It then gave me a random tower frequency to contact for my landing in the field  as I was gliding down it said “altitude at your discretion” — yeah no kidding :joy: . When I then got further down and about to “land” it told me “cleared to land in the field”.

Overall it can be quite good but I think it’s still too expensive for my taste.

All of the ATC products have a long way to go. It’s a very hard problem to solve. And it helps for you to be rather forgiving of their mistakes, like it’s their first day on the job. When I tried SI ground told me to taxi to a runway that certainly had never existed. When I told it that runway did not exist it said sorry and then gave me the right one.

I think we are a long way off being able to enjoy every flight without ever having to just ignore the ATC because it’s lost the plot.

What a very cool experience! I wonder, how is your appetite for more airport cafe burgers now they announced at the expo that the price is $20 per month?!
