This is not necessarily the full release of the Sim Update 3 Beta, future versions may contain additional fixes

Today is the dev stream. Can we please please make some noise on this and get some answers? Really badly need a fix

Please don’t use this as an opportunity to spam the chat and ruin the experience for anyone else trying to ask a question.

Mods will either time out the user, or worse time out the entire chat, which harms everyone.

According to the dev stream, a fix is planned for SU4.

we just have to be patient and wait…Asobo commit well once and for all and bring out a good night’s lighting!

That are really good news. Let us hope the best.

Yesss! Happy to hear they’re working on it.

great news, sorry didnt mean to encourage spamming, just wanted to make sure the question was asked. i wasnt in the live stream but glad it was addressed.
were there any details provided on what they would fix and how?

where can i find the latest version of this document. i only see the one from may 15

in the dev that was on twitch yesterday they will soon publish on youtube.

SU4 cannot come quick enough to fix this issue.

I’ve never had the hatred for the sepia mask as many here do, I’ll confess, but it does seem like the current build of SU3 (1.5.4.0) has maybe made some improvement here?

Go to 30000ft and take a look at it again, you’ll see how terrible that is.
In SU3 there is no note that they worked on that, in SU4 it’s planned though according to the latest dev stream.

“Terrible” is subjective. Also there have been dozens of changes that never get documented, so just because something isn’t in the release notes doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

I’ve seen other such utterances before elsewhere. “Disgusting”, and “unflyable” are quite common.

Well if you take a look at this picture

I’d say it’s pretty terrible, and it’s of course subjective cuz it’s only my opinion.
By looking at your image, I think sim looks quite good to me but that’d be again very subjective. I mean with this night lighting topic, there’s no single consensus I do believe. Some like some don’t I’m one of the people who don’t like it, but a fix is planned for SU4 so let’s see what it brings.

Lol Hey you know whats cool with MSFS 2024. After the sun sets flying from E-W on the horizon looks like the sun is still kinda lighting things up… Oh wait nope just a BIG CITY sun went down about an hour ago. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Just putting this out here for reference for the airport lighting. I think the lighting intensity of FS2020 looks way better. FS2024 exaggerates the bloom for everything. It makes some lights look like a blurry blob compared to the lighting in FS2020 which looks pretty crisp.

FS 2020

FS 2024

You are right, it is as if 2020 lacks hazy-ness or lack of hummidity and light polution stray light.
And in 2024 this works. Fun of perception i guess
We have some tools to work with this but the tools provide some help, but it become a setting
for the scenario which men is flying in and while flying most of us dont want to spend time in ui
but is looking for one size fits all solution which there is not. Think off how many sytems there are like pc xbox with different cfg of hardware and then there is lots of tv and monitor brands.
All with their own default.
And then there is lots of recorder tools for snapshots videos etc
In the raw they have their own settings, but while the live experience say hey this looks good so i make video or shot, looking back at this video or shot reveals stutters blurryness etc.

I think overall Asobo and partners is doing great on devellopment in the sim, i have had many different setups nvidia for graphics intel cpu and intel arc graphics multiscreens beamers and i only had one ctd in 2020 in four years i had played with help from zendesk needed, and none so far in 2024. At least the occasional ones i had was user mistakes.

Anyway lots can be said here but it all comes down to tweak your monitor, and tweak its come along software for colour satisfaction each time of day
Atm i use 2 49 evnia Philips monitors stacked on top of eachother and they can show pitch black image, black above and beyond my expectations also they can run up to 240 hz

Here are some shots of my night in beta.4 i think is pretty cool
I shot them in droneview.
And where i live and work at night i know there is a lot of light polution due stray light in the area irl, (can be hazardous if looking through my telescoop.)
So from above fl400 looking far away from north to south direction of view

While looking up above to the stars

Now little bit lower

And lower

And lower at around 12.000ft

And looking towards the south towards Eham
