I know the fix was not part of the latest hot fix for freezing whilst loading into flight but I’ve just checked the roadmap and can’t see it listed and am I missing something?
I’m on series x and immediately getting freezes after installing this hot fix and the last few days it had improved slightly so no idea!
Getting a freeze 3/4 loaded first load only as of late, seems to be repetitive?
Freeze … ctrl/alt/del and end process, restart game and no freeze?
Do you know what. I read the comments directly after my latest comment, and wondered why are they talking about SU6? It has already dropped a week ago. I was confused to say the least. As I was already frustrated, I chose to not make another comment for the time being. Now all has become clear lol Thank you for correcting me. I mistook WU6 with SU6.
I will run through your help list in a little while @TenPatrol. Thanks for trying to help out. It is appreciated. I know you’re not going to read through 100’s of posts but I did do a clean install of Windows 10 with just the basic Windows updates, and nothing else. Just a mouse and keyboard. So literally bare bones. And a standard copy of MSFS installed with SU5.
It was still freezing at 60%. So that was with a freshly installed copy of Windows 10, on a formatted dedicated NVME drive. One for Windows and one for MSFS. No cache (I have a separate dedicated SSD for this). A copy of the standard edition MSFS with SU6, and zero drivers of any sort. This includes any of my ROCCAT hardware.
I’ll tell you what I will do to make it easier to run through your list. I’m going to do it all again. I’ll reinstall a fresh copy of Windows 10. I’ll update it to the latest version. I’ll install my GTX 1080 drivers to the latest version as I’m going to need this correct?. I’ll install MSFS Standard (I have the Premium Deluxe version but to simplify things I’ll just install Standard with no World Updates).
If this works, which I’m sure it will (there will be no freezes) I’ll then start adding drivers one at a time until I reach a point where it freezes. This will almost certainly find the problem. Its just deciding what to install and in what order?
I will get to a position where I have everything reinstalled with vanilla everything, come back here after making sure I can repeatedly load into the effected airfields, and then we can go from there. I am desperate to find the route course for everyone here struggling with this issue. I just need some help diagnosing it lol
Once again sorry for my misunderstanding of where we were with updates, and for once again letting my frustrations getting the better of me.
Chris.
I did already you what you intent to do Chirs; really everything. Result: still freezing while loading a flight at 60%. I am sure it has something to do with loading the Bing map. This evening (17 sept.) I received another update of MSFS; after that one: still freezes at 60%. I readed already the same problem by others. Where is the reaction of Microsoft?
same here! Found a workaround though. If I disable all online services in the menu it will launch. I then re-enable them from the already started flight. Annoying but seems to work for now and at least I’m not grounded until they fix it.
I was having the freezing halfway issue 3 straight times trying to load into Boston at Runway 15L with the A32NX mod.
So I thought, maybe it’s just because it’s a busy airport, was going to try your workaround of disabling all online services but then I just thought, maybe I’ll just switch traffic from real time online to AI traffic, and it loaded!
Not sure if this means its the traffic that’s the cause, but maybe it also means that you don’t have to disable all online services.
Still not fixed for me even after the Sep 17 hotfix. Also the workaround listed to turn off Realtime Traffic did not help in my case. Really frustrating I can’t use some of my favorite airports.
Never just delete the community folder, any addons in there that came with an installer must be uninstalled in the proper manner first
And if you turn off all online services, not just traffic?
ha! I did some further testing and for me it’s definitely related to a combination of a “blank” tailnumber and online services. This issue popped up all of a sudden and I really tried to remember what had changed. I then remembered that it was me “deleting” the tail number before I run into those freezes. There is a bug where the old tail number still shows on the plane, even if the field is empty. What I did is put a blank space in it, this usually did it as a workaround if you wouldn’t want it to show a custom number. Anyway, if I put in a number and not blank it starts up all fine. If I delete the the field, it starts but the number still shows. If I put in blank (space key) it freezes at about 70% after clicking the “Fly” button. If I disable online services it starts everytime - no matter what’s in the tail number field.
I’ll file a zendesk report with my findings.
Tried the tail number that didn’t work. Can confirm that workaround of turning off all online functionality worked for me. Can finally load into KSFO. I was then able to turn on the online functionality once the plane was loaded at the gate. Hopefully this will be fixed ASAP.
I’m having the same exact thing lately. I have to re-start the sim and do the overall process again and sometimes I can get in. Frustrating to say the least!
I get this issue (about 50% loading and then freeze / not responding) at the same airport / area KPNE / KTTN / KLOM… This usually happens after an update / hotfix, or downloading a new addon.
When this happens, I have to
- restart again in safe mode, load a successful flight.
- restart again in regular mode
- Then all is fine, until the next major change / addition to the sim.
I have not tried this, but I will try deleting a content.xml file after a major change and see if this forced reset helps.
It’s SU5 bug. It doesn’t matter what you write there, it will always be empty next time
Always got Freeze almost all premium airport
Same here sim freezes at loading premium airports!
Was not worth to buy premium edition at all, if i can not even load them…
